SE announce 2.3 in summer for x10!!

I'm a n00b when it comes to phones and sotfware etc so hope someone can help me out. Now i've heardx10 is getting 2.3 i'm very interested in purchasing but heard it won't be available for everyone due to network carriers?, if i were to say purchase this phone via an auction site and it was unlocked would this mean i would be ok to update once 2.3 arrives?, i would either need it unlocked or on t-mobile (as thats the current network i'm with) cheers.

just change the product code for your phone to one that gets the update...but wait until its confimed before changing as you may change it to one that wont get it!!

one thing tickles me...
did AT&T released 2.1 yet?
just imagine... everyone gets 2.3 before AT&T release 2.1

Cool. Glad I've got a generic, Norwegian X10i. I guess I'll get the upgrade as soon as it's available. :)

awesome, im not using Face Recognition and Smile Shutter that much, so its fine if I lose it.. I'm not too sure with the Standard Android Camera interface though...

This has got to be the best news for all of us who supported SE by paying a lot of money for their first Android device.
Sony have not got the best reputation when it comes to support for some of their devices,as anyone who bought the ill fated nav-u system will tell you.
As for there customer service, well I only have experience in the UK,and frankly it's crap.
So at last we're going to get what we should have had without asking, updates for a 'phone which is still on sale!
Just goes to show....If you make enough noise, they're gonna have to listen.;)

we will finally get what we asked for :)

RIGHT...

Why are they doing this?

There is a huge security breach in 1.6 and 2.1 that is what allowed us to root the phone and it is the same glitch that was exploited in the trojan horse virus on the market the other week.

So SE need to cover their arse before they get taken to court by some disgruntled X10 owner for breach of privacy as unless they gave us 2.2/2.3 they could not secure the exploit!

As they have no version of 2.2 then they give us 2.3.3 to cover their back not to make us happy and with the new OS update who is to say they dont lock it even more so we cant even root the phone let alone use the boot loader exploit that is almost working now...

Im going to hold judgement and even updating till others have as they have locked it so once done you cant revert back to 2.1. Why? No idea but something funny is going on...

EDIT: Forget the underlined bit as they said the same thing when it went from 1.6 to 2.1 :o

To be honest I'm not at all concerned with what SE does for this phone anymore...the development community has shown they can produce quality upgrades for this platform and there is a lot of variety right now. I've just upgraded to 2.2 and I'm quite confident I'll be on a stable 2.3 ROM long before Rogers gets the SE version to me...so it won't likely ever touch my phone.

Ok I understand where you're coming from, but do you not think that a company like S.E. have a responsibility to support the product they sold to their customers for at least a couple of years.
This 'phone is still on sale for chrissakes!

Seriously?

SE launched the Satio as their flag ship phone... Within a week of release they stopped supporting it...

I'm amazed they stuck with us for this long!

oh my goddddd I've been waiting for agesssssssssssssssssssss

but who says that your brand will get it???

for what i have read, not every x10 will get it

but then just change your branding to one that does....i did from t mobile to generic!!
