SE PC Suite "killed" all USB ports on my laptop

Hi All,
Although not srtictly an issue with X10 but I thought it may help someone (took me 3 days to find a resolve).
I updated to 2.1 using SE PC suite, all good on the handset and a lot smoother.
However, PC suite hijacked all of my USB's on my laptop, they wouldn't recognise anything plugged in, not even the handset!.
It had installed a driver called "seehcri" which I could not get rid of, even uninstalled PC suite etc, still no joy.
Then I came across the following VMware Communities: usb controller initialization failed -...
which resolved and restored my drivers, I now no longer use anything SE.
Hope it helps someone.
 
I used that exact same guide yesterday to resolve the usb arbitration service yesterday in VMware Player, removing seehcri hasn't affected seus as I've run it today, not got PC Suite installed so don't know about that.
 
I use PC Suite on 4 different computers (3 desktops 1 laptop) and never had a problem like this. Weird.
 
A quicker fix for me was to simply disable and re-enable the devices and then reboot. Windows sometimes gets a bit upset when you install drivers and things.

I did try this first plus Iuninstalled the usb devices, rebooted and let windows find new hardware but it always went to seehcri.
Re pc suite, TBH, I assumed it was that causing but I did also have seus which I used to upgrade to 2.1.
I thought I'd mention it here as google search does show x10 users with the same problem on the se forum but no resolve.
 
It probably was to be honest. I didnt mean to sound like I was shooting down your advice because it's sound and I think because of flaws in the software it runs differently on many systems, particularly for reasons I don't understand on 64 and 42 bit architectures.

Anything that helps other users out deserves a place here! :)
