Secrets and Hints (hidden goodies of the indulge)

Not sure if this is a goodie but for me it is because I never had this feature in any phone I owned in the past...here goes...

I have 185 contacts so I don't bother to set ringtones for each one
because I won't be able to remember each ringtone for all 185 contacts.

You ever get a call and run to your phone to see who it is that's calling and thinking
if it's important enough to pick it up at that time?

Well you don't have to ...just go to ..settings.....voice input & output....
text to speech and check on Driving Mode.

When your ringtone goes off for a sec or 2 it will announce the name of the
person calling you exactly how it is listed in your contacts.

No need to pick up the phone to see who it is.

I've seen it before yeah...
I have other phones that did that as well, I believe the MotoRokr or whatever was that cheap motorola that looks like a kyocera domino phone from metro used to do it.

You're right that it's a goodie... But is it a hidden goodie? I'm tempted to put it up there, but I don't want the list to become to exhaustive with options that are readily available. Well, if three more people vote to have it up there, I will put it! How about that?! LOL!
Democracy rulez...

Not sure if this is any good or not, but here goes... :)

If you hold the red Fn button on the slide out keyboard, then press L or R arrow key, it acts as Home or End, respectively.

Not sure if this qualifies as a "secret" but I thought I'd share anyway. Personally, I found it very helpful as I have fat fingers and always have a hard time positioning the cursor exactly where I want it, especially when editing multi paragraphs of text.

These functions also work as a copy and paste function :-):)

Hi
I have just got a new Samsung Galaxy 551 and the contact list sucks. I can only have 1 phone number for each contact and can find no way to add any extra detail. Am I missing something or is there anything I can do to fix it.

Cheers

Hello ritchie. I understand your plight, but there's not much I can tell you. This forum area is dedicated for another phone, the samsung galaxy indulge. Please post your question in the appropriate section and I'm sure you'll be able to get better help.
The only thing I can think of, since your phone is an android phone, you can try downloading another contact management app from the market, such as "Go Contacts" and use that instead. Although it sounds fishy to me that an android phone is holding one number per contact...

This was very useful. Thanks. .

Thought I would include the ones that work for the
R915

View all screens at once: Pinch on any home screen(also lets you edit pages, add or remove.)

View all screens in the Main Menu: Go to your application menu and pinch on any screen. (Can't edit your apps or pages like you would in Viewing all home pages.)

Reorder icons in the Main Menu: Tap the application icon, hit the menu button, select Edit. Touch and hold the application you want to move. (you can also move the Phone, Contacts, Message & Home Icons)

Access the Debug menu (a hidden samsung menu): Using anycut, create a shortcut for the second from last DATA activity

Turn on Mobile Hotspot From the market, download the free app widgetsoid and select that widget from the list.

Quickly access numbers on stock keyboard: while typing, swipe finger straight up to reveal numbers. Note that this is for the stock android keyboard, not the swype keyboard.
On swype keyboard, a long press of the corresponding key will reveal the number.
Furthermore, on the swype keyboard, you can get accented letters by long pressing the corresponding latin character key for a longer period of time. Long press on a for example yields & then continued long press shows the letters
