Help! I'd really like to secure my phone using anything more robust than the swipe screen but no matter if I use pattern, PIN or password, anytime I use a full screen ap like the desk clock or grooveshark and the timeout is exceeded I get to do a battery pull. I use the power button to wake the phone and no pattern request is given. If, after that, I put the phone to sleep using the power button and try to wake it later, I get a black screen with lit soft keys and I have to do a battery pull as nothing pressed will do anything.
Precursors to behaviour:
-Pattern/Pin/Password security is set
-an ap in full screen (such as google clock) stays open past the security timeout
When I wake the phone and close that ap and return to the homescreen and subsequently fast press the power button to lock the screen the following happens:
-Screen goes blank (as it should) BUT...
-Fast press the power button fails to wake the phone
-Long press of the power button does not power off the phone
-Touch buttons light but the phone is otherwise blank/black and unresponsive
Ultimately, a battery pull is required to reboot the phone.
I have a Samsung Captivate with Rogers and the 2.2 update. It happened on 2.1 as well.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
Cheers!
I should also add that using SGS Info to change the "Power" button action in your phone will fix this, but only because it removes the lock screen entirely, negating any security you might want to implement (including the plain swipe option)
