Root Segmentation fault

I used a method from a link on this forum on how to root my Intercept but what do I do about it if I get a segmentation fault every time I try to access root commands?

I tried un-rooting with the superoneclick tool and rooting again, but the problem persisted....

I can get a temporary root, but it's the permanent root I'm having trouble with, after restarting the phone.

EDIT: I don't know if it's relevant but I also lose my data connection whenever I'm temp-rooted... Kind of like when I answer a phone call.

Also, using joeykrim's root checker (from market) it says I don't have root access even if I check right after the superoneclick tool tells me the root was successful.

-------
so if after 50 views there are no replies, that means nobody here knows or is willing to answer i guess...
Can someone perhaps at least suggest a method to find more details about the segfault so I can get a hint on where to go from here?
(I can get access to the phone with adb, just not with su permissions)

thanks for using my root check app from the market.
su giving a segmentation fault could be caused by a few things. rather than troubleshoot it, i would try a different approach.
there is a great app for intercept users to root with. the author has released all his source code and does a great job programming.
Intercept Root Apk and Recovery flasher
hope that helps and you're able to successfully root your device!

Well, it kind of works. My device is now working extremely slowly, and the app crashes every time I try to unroot.

Also, I have the phone plugged in to the charger and am watching the power go down as it's "charging," and that's right after rebooting it. . .

edit: I managed to get the unroot to work, & it looks like it restored it to the same "partially rooted" point as before. (I can view root files but not change them)

Edit the +1: So I finally gave up and did a factory reset... and managed to get the app to work after that, so yeah... done with that step. =) Still running a bit slower than usual but I've got some things I wanna try (as soon as my computer starts seeing the phone again) before I ask for advice on that.
