Seidio desktop dock help.

ImCharming

Newbie
I got the seidio multimedia dock thingy because I wanted to be able to use it with the case without having to take it off. Anyways, it works great I love it. The main reason why I wanted this was for it to replace my alarm clock. Well when I plug it in it nothing happens, it's just a black screen. I was hoping for the time to be displayed, how do I get that to automatically happen? I think it does with the verizon dock... I can go to like, the clock thing and have that time show up and it stays on there but how do I make it automatically happen? Thanks!

I'm confused...you say it works great, yet when you plug it in nothing happens? I'm assuming you mean it's working except that the phone's screen will not stay on automatically when plugged into the dock. Perhaps you can set your screen to "Never turn off" and that may work with a clock widget installed on your home screen. Maybe the Verizon dock tells the phone's screen to stay on, while Seidio's doesn't.

Perhaps it might not be on the dock all the way either, especially with the case on (even though it says it works with the case, it may be a tight fit).

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I'm just guessing here as I don't own a dock.

I've never gotten my Seidio dock to display time and such like my old Droid X one dock did. It will display the home screen lengthwise when the screen is unlocked (I'm using Launcher Pro BTW).

I think there may be some apps that allow it to do what you want, but you probably have to go digging for them.

I know what you are trying to say. With my OG Droid, I would place it into the multi-media dock and it would instantly go into dock mode and the clock and weather would show. You could also put it on slide show with all of your pics. It's a really nice dock, I love it. I also heard that dock mode didn't happen with the OG Droid Seidio dock for whatever reason. I last heard that the OEM HTC TB dock didn't put the phone into dock mode either. This could be different after the MR2 update, anybody know?? I'm assuming the the TB Seidio dock doesn't put the phone in dock mode either. There might be an app for it though. The OEM HTC dock is starting to come down in price and if I can get confirmation of dock mode when the phone is placed in, I would probably buy it. I'm def keeping my TB for longer than I thought.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it will work. and i am sure there are other apps out there that do the same thing as TASKER does, but are free.
but i have tasker installed (its a great app, even though its a little pricy)
but i have a profile set up to trigger the app "night clock donate" (you can set it to open up the stock clock app) when it charges after 11:00pm. you can set it up any way you want to though. have it set up for hoizontal orientation and charging to trigger the app.

like i said, not exactly what you wanted but at least its an option.
hopefully someone else can chime in with an app similar to tasker or will do the same thing but free.

also if you are running a ROM like CM7, you can set a menu button longpress action to open the clock app. place phone in dock, press and hold menu, and clock opens up.
just a couple options for you.

I am on CM7, and this solution will work fine for me. How do I set this up? Thank you very much!

Nevermind, I figured it out. Thanks a bunch, perfect!
