I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the surface case for the oem extended battery along with a holster. i would have much preferred the active case for the oem extended battery with no kickstand, but it doesn't seem to be in the works. shame.
I had surface cases on my previous phones and while I've always used them, seeing the active case on my mother in law's phone really made me want that for this phone. the extended battery isn't much improvement over the stock battery, but at this point i have two so i'm not going to go back to the stock battery just for a case.
The surface case fits a bit big (I hear something rattling when I shake it) and i don't care for how slippery it is, but perhaps that will change in time. I don't recall my Droid case being this slippery. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. i also have a cruzer lite case, but i want to be able to have a case and holster.

I ordered my Seidio Surface on January 12 and it has yet to be delivered to me.
On the tracking website the last update was from Jan 17, that it was accepted at the facility in Houston, TX.
This is absolutely absurd. I've ordered a case from Seidio before, and I don't remember it taking this long to arrive. Maybe I bought it from Amazon instead of Seidio's website itself before, I don't remember. My patience is wearing thin and I might just switch to the Cruzer Lite cases everyone is trying out.

I just got a Seidio Active case for my GNX and it fits great....I am running the OEM extended battery and back and this Active Case and it fits great. Only slight issue is that I ordered the "Gloss White" case and it is all white except for a slight dark smudge on the middle left of the back of the "skeleton" part of the case that was there before it got removed from the stock packaging. I have not tried to clean it off yet....I literally just finished installing the case.
The smudge would not come off with a bit of alcohol......oh well....still like the case....I guess that I am a bit picky.
The case feels great and fits very well with the OEM extended battery and rear cover. The clip/holster is also great and has a snug fit.

Oh this is great news. I thought some folks in another thread said the active case didn't fit the OEM extended battery.
I'm really not digging the slippery back of this surface case. It's way more slippery than my Droid surface case ever was. Unless it's going to get rougher in time, this case is out. I'm not willing to wait around and waste my money to find out.

After a day of carrying the Active case/ holster combo....it is great I really like it. And it is not even noticeable that I am running the OEM extended battery and back. I love it....except for the scuff....lol

Thanks for the followup. I did an RMA for the surface and holster combo and ordered the active and holster from amazon yesterday after reading your post. Should be here today.
For anyone interested in the case, there's some good video reviews on youtube by goblueJD and DayDealOnDisplay. In particular, the DayDealOnDisplay review shows the case from all angles with the extended battery installed and points out the specifically areas where the fit is a little different than it would be the standard battery. The one gap pointed out in the video doesn't bother me. All of the features reportedly line up perfectly, it's just a gap in one spot that shouldn't be bothersome.

Exciting news! After listening to your feedback, we decided to develop and release and extended battery with NFC. It's only compatible with the Verizon version of the Galaxy Nexus, but we'll be releasing an extended battery for the International/GSM version with NFC as well!
