what is the difference active and surface case?

Looks like the active is thicker and provides more protection. I just ordered the surface, as I want some protection but do not want to add any more bulk than necessary, and the surface seemed like one of the thinnest cases available.

The active still isn't available. It's been 'coming soon' for quite a long time. Hopefully soon!
