selecting txt in an email

Its shocking that I have to even ask this... in 2.2.. my friend sends me an email (yahoo).. I want to copy some of the content. Why can't I do this?

Also, why do links seem to always come in broken?

Gmail and Yahoo mail apps let you select/copy/paste texts. Other 3rd party mail apps also do.
