Same thing with text messages, or actually any messages for that matter when you're typing in landscape. Like you, the only way I can find to send the message is to hide the keyboard, then press send. Is there a keyboard shortcut or anything to simplify this?

Thats just the way it is. You have to hide the keyboard or scroll down further to find the send button. Its not a big deal really. Swype allows you to scroll down to hit send, plus it allows you to type faster. Its not something new on the incredible the eris functions the same way.
