Root Sending messages on 3G?

So I heard that on the Admire (and probably on all Metro phones) regular SMS text messages are sent on the 1x network, I wanted to know if there was any tweak or something that I can do to have my texts sent and received on Metro's 3G network when I am connected to 3G?

Metros 3G network is 1x, just through a different router labelled as EVDO rather than.

To clarify:
All regular sms msgs are sent via SMSC (cell tower control channel), not 1x. This is why there is a character limitation on sms, and also why you can send sms without a data signal.
MMS msgs are sent through 3g/1x.

~Cheers. :)

Don't know how that's possible to begin with, but perhaps there is a protocol that will default to mms if no smsc is available
I think he, like most people, are just confused by the fact that a little 3G icon will show in the status bar and think that's how the stuff is being sent.

No before I update my prl It will alays stay 3G during texting and my data would work when I send someone a text the only time it will go off is when I got a call

I understand that, but what Im saying is that regardless of 3G icons, your sms messages are being sent via smsc through your closest towers control channel.
That's just how it works.
