Root Sending old phone back to VM, need to install Stock ROM

I had a problem with my phone and Virgin Mobile replaced it under warranty. Now I've got to wipe the old phone, install the stock ROM and hopefully undo all of the S-off and wire trick things I did.

I found this guide:

But the links posted in it don't seem to work for some of the downloads. Does anyone have a more current tutorial to put it back into pure stock ROM?

The problem is, I can't get the RUU to run. I've heard that the OTA updates stop it from running, is this true?

Nevermind, I just had to reinstall HTC Sync and RUU worked fine.

Don't forget RUU doesn't turn the phone to S-On tho. Look around tho there is a command to set it back to that. :)
 
VM factory wipes the phone immediately anyways, you'll have your replacement before they see that you're rooted
 
As xsteven pointed out, the first thing that Virgin does to a returned phone is to flash it back to factory stock, one to put the phone into a known state for troubleshooting and two to remove all owner information before sending it back out. I've personally returned over 6 phones to Virgin and every single one was rooted and rommed, never had any problems at all. :D

Funny tho. Even when they factory reset it by flashing it back to stock, doesn't that leave our passwords and whatnot still in the NVRAM? That was what happened on my old Optimus Elite. We had to use QPST to do a RAM dump, to achieve our MSL and no matter how many times you flashed anything on that phone it never cleared the passwords from the RAM. I'm sure it would take some serious know how tho for someone to know how to do this. But I guess that's the flaw in being rooted ;)
 
No, trust me, they have something like CDMA WS that nukes everything back to factory original, including the norm, out of all of the replacement phones that I've received I've never seen anything using CDMA WS that pointed to a previous user. :p
