To the cloud - your Google account on Google's servers, ready for you to download/sync or use online when you want.

iv got a gmail account will it get sent there? sorry bout this guys for bein a noob jus wanna make sure iv got my contacts before sending it off

Yes. Your Gmail address and password is your Google account login. With that you get access to all things Google - email, calendar, tasks, contacts, Picasa, YouTube, Android Market, etc.

When you log in to your online Gmail account, you'll see a link to Contacts, usually underneath Mail in the top left section of the window. When you sync Google with your phone's Contacts, they will appear in there, as long as you have 'Sync contacts' checked on your phone. Menu > Settings > Accounts & sync > Google > and check what needs to be synced.

Give it a go to see how it works.
