Help Sending Text Issue

Whenever I text only a few specific people I get a message saying

9230: Message sent using invalid number of digits. Please resend using 10 digit number or valid short code. Msg 2114

All of my contacts numbers and in 10 digits example: 123 - 456 - 7890 this only happens with certain contacts but I don't see what the issue is. Does anyone else get this issue or know how to fix it?

Maybe it don't likes the - you have, try it just like 1234567890

I don't use the - on my phone. Should I try? Sorry it's a habit to type like that

I take it your not in the UK as we have 11 numbers, I got no idea, have you tried googling the error code?

I randomly get this same error notification with either default messaging or handcent. The text message still goes through but this 9230 message just pops up for no reason and I noticed it will only do it with certain 10 digit telephone numbers every now and then; even though these are numbers I've never had this 9230 come up with my previous cell phone. Could this be a Sprint thing? Doesn't matter what carrier my friends use...sprint, at&t, etc.
