Help Sense 3.0 update on UK vodafone branded hd

I'll see what I can do because if I try connect it to PC with USB Cable it hasn't loaded as hard drive yet. Also I can't put the SD in my laptops card slot because I haven't got an adapter for the micro SD cards.
 
You got to switch it from charging to USB MASS STORAGE or something like that...

Then you PC will detect it



Edit: Can you try one other thing as well, Can you from your home screen

Menu -> Settings -> Storage -> Unmount SD Card

When that is done go to your home screen

App Draw -> Menu -> Remove App

Can you see that some apps are missing??

The reason why I am asking is that I am reading on the net that it is safe to remove the /.android_secure folder and it should remove the apps. The above just disconnects your SD card from your phone, so what I want to see is if your SD card is not in your phone (or unmounted) are the apps still visable to android which were on the SD card.

Word of caution, delete or uninstalling the app means your data for that app will be lost. Android does not allow to backup data unless you are rooted.. sorry.
 
Thats weird... hmm i can't think of any other way of see what is in that folder unfortunately...

How does it force close btw, randoming or when you launch a particular app?
 
I just found an adapter which I can put my micro SD card into, then I put the adapter into my laptop.

I had a look through that Andriod_Secure folder and I had plenty of files for most of my apps, but none of them were the same.
I try moving as many apps as I can to my SD card so it's less space taken on my phone.
 
Ok cool, how many have you have, are you able to move some to your phone?

And also when your phone reboots, is it random or when you launch an app?
 
I haven't tried putting my SD card back in my phone since yesterday, so I haven't tried moving them from SD to phone.

It is usually a random when the phone reboots, sometimes the phone would turn on and sit there and then reboot.

Is was even slow sliding through my home screens and loading apps, this would also end up with a reboot. At first I thought it was Memory related for not having enough but I have plenty of free space on my phone and I have a 32GB SD card.
 
Yea, there is something wrong with your SD card I think.

Another thing you could do, is take a backup of your SD card delete the .android_secure folder, put your SD card back in and see what happens... If something goes wrong you can always dump the files back...

It could also be .data folder. This is where HTC dumps some sense crap, so that might effect it also...

It is quite difficult to debug without seeing the device :p

I put my SD card into my laptop, then moved all the files from /.Android_Secure to my laptop.

I then put the SD card back into my phone and was all fine just I was missing quite a few apps.
Luckily with the app 'App Backup & Restore' it had stored my big list of apps in an archive. Using this app I was able to restore my list of apps. :cool:

Up until now everything has been fine with no reboot! :D:D:D

I would like to thank you again for your help & thank the creators of App Backup & Restore. ;)
 
No probs mate, glad it is working!

I think it is something HTC needs to take into consideration on their upgrades.

Lucky as a rooted user, we just use a superwipe script that does it for us :D
 
got my upgrade yesterday morning and havent stopped messing with it all day. The graphics are great altho it must be eating by battery.

If u are on the home screens then move to one of the outta home screens, then press the home button but quickly hold the touchscreen, you can stop the graphics turning and can see the other six screens in the background, thts some awesome graphics.

hmmm,have had my ota update available for a couple of days now on my dhd but looking at some of the problems that some people are experiencing,im am just a bit windy!....should i be? tia:confused:
 
Just did my daily check for the update and it's available... downloading to my phone as I type this.

T-Mobile PAYG in the UK


Update installed and works... but I am getting the damaged SD card error again and it won't mount. Worked perfectly before the upgrade... so I'm not very happy... again.

I have no adapter and I can't connect it as a hard drive... so looks like a wipe is required yet again and I lose everything again.

Too late, I wiped and restored most stuff from my last backup... I can download the apps again so that's not a problem... but it was all the notifications and ringtones that I created myself that I was more worried about. :-)

I think I shall treat myself to a new SD card and adapter in the new year... this is not the first time this has happened and I thought I'd fixed after running a scan and finding 2 bad sectors.

It's annoying how easy it seems to happen though, I see others having the same issues.
 
Gor it last night from Vodafone, superb update, phone is faster, battery life seems greatly improved (so far anyway).

Thankfully seem to have avoided any restart problems or call probs.

IMO go for it.
 
The SD card issue is caused by incompatibility between different ROMS. The HTC upgrades seems to be a bit dodgy interms of how to treat your existing data which are kept on hidden files on the SD card. So usually if you can just connect your SD card to your PC and remove /.android_secure folder.

You might lose some app data though

That's what I thought after reading other threads about SD cards... However, if you have no adapter (as I don't at the moment) then you can't do this.

It's something I will have to look into in the new year, possibly a new card and adapter.

3 times my card has become corrupted in some way, twice after using it as a hard drive and once after the update.

After the second time I ran a full scan/test on the card and found 2 bad sectors, which should be marked as such and stop the issue... So I'm hoping that the update caused another issue unrelated to that.

Turn on USB debugging on your phone, connect your phone as a USB mass drive storage and you should be able to see the folder on your PC when you plug in your device via the USB cable supplied.
