Root sense 4 possible?

after we get ics. and our devs get cm9 setup right could it be possible to get a sense 3.6 or 4.0 rom?

we have basically the same internals as the HTC vivid

Sense4all – Sense 4.0 ported for Samsung devices
if these guys can get it on phones with completely different specs.. it shouldnt be too difficult for someone with skills

anyone else like this idea? i hope im not the only one

I would have to use ICS first to see if I like it, since I have never had it (I put the ICS leak on my wife's droid 4, but she won't let me play with it!). I've only ever used sense, until the spectrum, and like it a lot, as long as the hardware can handle it. I'd need to see sense on ICS first I guess. Especially since it looks like the devs should be able to give us jelly bean not too long after ICS.

Agreed and lol about the wife thing. I do to have a LG Spectrum and Nook Tablet 16GB lol.

There's a lot of 'ifs' there. We can't get builds of cm7 to boot on the device now, so it's likely going to be in same with cm9 when we get ics. Cracking the hardware conflicts with mos, droids took weeks and even months, so we might be in for the same long haul.

I've never used sense but the screenshots of it don't impress me.

i used sense on a droid eris and i fell in love with all the widgets and the way everything just fits together perfectly..
i rooted and got s-off on a friends amaze4g and sense runs beautifully with it overclocked to 1.8 just like our kernels.. i love ics.. but im not really a aosp fan...

Sense would be a nice option, but not too into it. I'd rather stick with the OG Android UI. No skins. Pure Android usually works the cleanest.

Still have you ever heard of HTC Sense on an LG device? I haven't but I live under a rock so I wouldn't know.

mostly the difficulties of porting sense is because most devices that people try to port it to have different hardware than the htc they port it from... if someone that knows how to work with sense shouldd be able to get something woorking for us IF we can get anything other than stock to boot

Ahh good to know. Still HTC sense would probably be the last thing I'd try out. Unless of course all is well but I highly doubt that considering the information you've just provided.

Those who know, know. Everything about sense is integrated. And it all works, since sense 1.0 it just works, and everything works together. If it were available for our phone, I wouldn't even think of using anything else.

Yea, my guess is a simple bin kang isn't going to work on sense. Lol. I've never seen anyone dev from an HTC rom and have success.

I've seen sense running on an OG Droid. It looked ok, but I think it kept FC'ing all the time.

Workshed on the Eris forum and a group he was in made a dual boot CM7/Sense rom. I'd love to see that on the Spectrum except with CM10 and Sense 4.

in the time i had my eris.. that was the best rom.... but the eris had huge dev support.... only downside to it was one of the roms was run off the sd card if i remember correctly.... we should have enough internal space to have both roms on the device....

btw.. has anyone discovered where that "4gb" of internal storage we are supposed to have ran off to?

It's there, but parsed into sections. If you have Rom Toolbox, you can see the app allocations on the bottom of the screen.

For me...

Downloaded Apps: 475mb used, 1.2gb free
System Apps: 324mb used, 684mb free

Add the 1gb or so of pure system data needed for the OS and it adds up to about 4gb.

I know not all are partitions, you can pretty much assume that any with the exact same free space are the same partition. And some of the smaller ones (if not all) are most likely virtual partitions. (This means their space may already be accounted for on one of the other listed partitions) Some of the devs could tell you exactly, I am just guessing, based off my experience with Linux.
