Root Sense and Touch

Hi all!

I am having a very bizarre issue. EVERY SENSE based ROM I flash the touchscreen stops working. But ever AOSP ROM I flash, the touch works fine. I *had* a Nandroid and when I flashed it, the touch wasn't working, I tried Viper ROM that worked once, and even that Nandroid didn't work. I restored my CM ROM nandroid, and it worked. Any ideas? I have S-ON and I flash w/e kernal that comes with the ROM.

Thank you much!

what is your baseband? you might have the touchpanel from a newer firmware that is causing the issue, but the odd thing is that the effect should have been the other way around.

the newer touchpanel firmware should have affected aosp roms and not sense......so that is odd.

and just so you know we have s-off now.....there is no need to be just unlocked.....moonshine is pretty easy, but you do need to be on the second to the latest ota(3.16.651.3).

Sorry for the delay. Lets look here My HBOOT is 2.09 Radio (BB) 1.12.11.1210 OpenDSP 31.1.0.45.0015 Something about oct 18 2012

Come to think of it, the ONLY thing I can thing that could of done this is I DID experiment with a Sense 5 ROM

yeah you have the latest touch panel firmware which will cause issues with the touchscreen, but the weird thing is that it should have caused issues with aosp roms.

what sense roms have you tried?

here is some more info about firmware and why you should get s-off:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/689274-guide-evo-4g-lte-firmware-guide.html

Vipre, Stock from my Nandroid (which got deleted), my Viper Nandroid (gone too) Viper v 3 and 2. I think that's it. Any suggestons? I'm scared to go S-OFF in fear of hard bricking, I never S-OFF'd my OG EVO. Is there something I can do with the S-ON?

not sure on viper, but the sense rom needs to be from the same base as your current firmware(3.16.651.3).....did you try [7/15]Viper4G 3.1.7?

and rEVOLTED is 3.15 so yeah that will have issues with the touch panel firmware, unless the dev fixed in a later release.

so with what you have you are limited with what you can flash. but moonshine is pretty simple really. you are on the correct firmware. you might need to flash a 3.16 stock rooted rom though.

just read the: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/605567-ltevo-rooting-dummies-complete-guide.html for moonshine info. it is the easiest root method i know. you are half way done by having the device unlocked.

just read and ask questions if you have any....no need to worry about bricking your phone(just an fyi there is no such thing as soft or hard brick....a brick is a brick). it is super hard to brick your phone really.

I keep trying MS and it goes to "waiting for ADB" and fails, and tells me to fix it . So, not quite sure what I'm doing wrong following the guide, running as admin. Insight?
