Help Sense crashing/restarting - don't reset without checking Google Wallet!!!

I appreciate it e.m. ps sprint and HTC seem to really be trying to fix this issue. I just received a call from sprint as well and they left me a v message cause I'm at work but they said due to the urgency of my issue they would like me to call back and they gave me a reference # which that is for the google wallet issue so we shall see il post details with phone call to sprint asap!!!!

Interesting... Wallet update available with HTC EVO support being new.

Okay so HTC just called me, while I was on the phone with sprint customer service..HTC is aware of the google wallet issue and apparently they were afraid this would be happening...and apparently ALL of the devices have now been cleared by customs.. the pre orders were only cleared because of how much revenue was on the line.. so apparently all the devices as a whole were cleared from customs 100% yesterday and now HTC is calling my local sprint corporate store and they are notifying them that they will be sending me a replacement device to that store so I can go there and swap out my device with the defective google wallet phone thankfully :-) so boys and girls be careful because apparently a device swap is the only true fix as of the time being

Good to hear! :)

And that's what I figured about the availability of phones.

Your Local Homeland Security Rep,

Brad

Well after spending 30mins on the phone with the HTC rep, he tried to contact my local corporate sprint store and was doing some kind of deal between HTC and sprint to where when they reiceved their shipment I could just go and swap my phone out for a new device but they currently have no info on when that will be and my 14 days is ticking down and by June 7th if I don't return my device for a refund and have no phone what so ever until they are available nationally I'm out of luck :( :( I spent 5 hours today on the phone with Every possible department of sprint and at the end of it all I got the result of: well the only thing we can offer to you at this point is you send your device back before the 14 days runs out and wait for the devices to arrive in the store's and then go get a new one( 1 problem when I would go to do that I would 1. Have no phone at all until they showed up in stores. 2. I don't drive because I was in the army and got medically discharged for my two disabilities they caused. 3. They offered me a deal according to them( not a deal in my opinion!!)

But they wanted me to send this device back, pay full retail price for a new phone(HTC evo 4g LTE) they would bill my card, and then once they receive my phone and have the new phone they would send the new phone to me, and credit the money back on my card...quite a few problems with that and sprint did not care 1 bit.. first I don't have $599.99 to just throw away even if it's temporary I can't afford that... Second I would be without a device once again for who knows how long..third I would be out that $$$ that I don't even have, so I couldn't do it even if I wanted to..and their only other option was for me to search eBay for a cheap phone to hold me over until I send my evo 4g lte back and wait for the refund to come to me via check(1-2billing cycles)

Then go to a store and upgrade all over again but at my expense to find a cheap phone to hold me over until then..or find a friend who has an old sprint phone to use temporarily but the main issue is for sprint to refund my full phone price it would take 1-2 billing cycles first off and second I'd be without this phone 100% and have no other phone to use and let alone I can't afford to buy this phone all over again until they would refund my money back.. to be honest folks I have received better customer service through the 2 phone calls iv had with HTC than I have had with sprint I mean sprint has really dropped the ball on customer service they flat out said to me well either you take what we can offer or you have 14 days ( now 7 days) left to return your device and go else where..and I definitely contemplated it after this big, poorly investigated mess!! Sprint should have never put the phones out when none of their employees know anything about them what so ever nor do they have any info at repair centers about issues with the phone and how to fix them..and I can't even get a refurb obviously even though I wouldn't make that trade!

But I can't even get that nor can I seem to get a swap phone because they won't do it unless I go without a phone for who knows how long or pay full retail price temporarily for the new device and wait to get it credited back on my card and so sprint has really blown me away with this one folks. I wasn't asking for $1,000,000 I just want what I payed for and clearly half of the phone is now broken and I feel I got robbed because they were very very reluctant to help in any way shape or form none whatsoever!! HTC has called me twice and was extremely helpful and they are calling me tomorrow after they see what they can do on their end since sprint has really failed to provide true information or any help whatsoever. So wish me luck and please learn from this so it doesn't happen to you :( :( :(

I'm confused at what the problem is, and how it relates to the 14 day return period. The phone itself works fine, correct, other than Google Wallet? You like the phone otherwise, enough that you aren't going to want a different phone? So what is the problem with just holding on to the phone until they have a replacement available? Are they saying they WON'T replace it after the 14 day period? If they will replace it when they have stock, then really you have a mild annoyance for a week or two.

Should you have been in the situation in the first place? No. But unless they aren't going to fix the problem or at least replace it, then I think you are making more out of this situation than it really is. Unless you absolutely must have Google Wallet right away. The only way you have to pay double, or go without a phone, is if you want it immediately.

Maybe I just missed something, or misunderstood. I know it is frustrating to not get what you paid for especially when you have been anticipating it for so long, but you seem to be getting upset out of proportion to the problem.

Sorry for the poor clarification in my above post. Sprint will absolutely not replace my device without charging me the insurance fee of $50-100 once the 14 day period is ran out, hence why they suggested I send my current phone back and purchase a cheap phone through them or eBay to hold me over because once the 14 day period is up I am stuck with this device unless I do an insurance claim and dish out more money for the new device. Or I can pay full retail price which I cannot afford whatsoever and send my current device back..and wait however long( no time frame) without a cellphone at all and wait for the new device to be shipped and show up at my house again.

So at the end of it all sprint either expects me to purchase a cheap device to hold me over until the Evo's hit the shelves and send my current one back for a refund,( which the $$$ I paid won't get credited back to me for upto 1-2 billing cycles) so when the phones do become available nation wide I wont have the cash to buy it again because sprint won't release my $$$ back to me for atleast 1-2 billing cycles let alone they want me to buy a cheap device somewhere somehow and use that until the devices come out! But if I do that I won't even have the money for the phone again when it comes out because sprint won't release it back to me for 1-2 billing cycles.

Ya following my point now? Send phone back, get refund within 1-2 billing cycles, be stuck with no phone, buy a cheapie off of eBay or sprint( sprint recommendation btw) wait until the phones go nation wide, somehow scrounge up the cash to buy it again while sprint still holds my money from the first evo purchase just to get a new device free of charge considering their lack of information and warning to users like myself was NOT THERE!!! So the factory reset totally ruined a main feature which is what I went out of my way for and payed almost $350 before tax to ensure I was able to get this phone! So maybe this will help you understand my frustration. It's gone way past the wallet issue. It's the fact that sprint was in no way shape or form willing to help me unless I paid full price for a device they dont have yet, sent my device back before the new one would even ship although they would have $600.00 of my hard earned money at that time, be without a phone 100% in this whole process and they suggest I search eBay for a temporary phone?

Why should I haveto do that, when there the ones who always recommend factory resets to fix simple buggy issues on New and old phones, I pay for insurance every month for the past few years, there the ones who had no information provided to g.nexus users nor evo 4g lte users about this issue and how to avoid it, granted neither did HTC, or google but there also not the ones telling me to send my phone back, wait 1-2 months for the money to come back to me, and in the mean time shell out more $$$ I don't have and buy a cheap junk phone off of eBay to hold me over until sprint has the devices in stock which by the time sprint gave me my $$$ back for this phone they would be sold out for months knowing my luck!!! So then what? Oh yeah that's right my 14 days is up, so now I'm locked in for 2 years and I got hit hard by sprint...no thanks!!

I strongly believe they have went from good customer service to absolutely horrible!!! How can you expect someone to be happy with a defective hardware issue on a 5day old phone, and suggest they send it back and be phoneless for days if not more, but suggest they search eBay for a cheap phone to use until they can get more in stock, but I wouldn't be able to just wait and have them send it when there in stock, nope id haveto go to a sprint store and pick it up and that's after 1-2 billing cycles I got my full refund!! So please explain to me how you feel this is over reacting? I'd really love to know how I'm stretching it to far because if this were your exact same situation I can almost bet you and anyone else would not be thrilled either!

See, that is the part I wasn't clear on, that Sprint WON'T allow you an exchange after the 14 days. In that case, I can understand your frustration much more. I'm honestly surprised that they won't do it. I've been with Sprint for about 13 years, and they have always gone out of their way to help me with any issues. Normally I'd say try a different report, but you appear to have worked with several reps. I don't have any other suggestions, on the plus side though, the Sprint stores are supposed to have their stock available by Saturday, so I would assume they would also have them available through the phone reps. The last time I had to exchange a phone, they didn't charge me per se. They did put it on my bill, but I didn't have to pay it. When I got the new phone, it came with a prepaid box to send my old one back. Once they received my old phone, they credited my account, bringing my bill to zero. Well, technically I did still have to pay a restocking fee, but was cheaper than the deductible.

I have had my phone for about a week now give or take. At first everything has ran very smoothley. After a few days it started to get a little buggy, I just used task manager to kill everything and it ran pretty fast until the other day I backed out of my dolphin browser and got my first loading screen. I did have a lot of stuff running at the time so I shrugged it off. Well it started to do it more often and it really started to get aggervating so I did a factory reset since I didn't have that much on the phone anyways. So I did, and after the reset the phone runs flawlessly. Well I just now came by this thread, I would have never thought google would be linked to the loading screen problems. Well I signed back into google wallet and haven't had any problems yet. I haven't tried loading any money on it but have played around with it for awhile and nothing bad has happend. Am I the only one?

Yeah basically sprint won't allow me to exchange even though I'm within the 14 days still at this point.. and since I ordered it online may 7th a few reps tried to tell me my 14 days started when I pre ordered it but that's not right because I didn't even receive it until may 24th and it was nationally released yesterday as we all know..and HTC was supposedly trying to do something on their end I had received 2 calls from htc Wednesday and Thursday.

Thursday he said he would see what he could do from His end and call me back Friday and I never got anything back? Nothing at all.

And google had contacted me but they had offered me a galaxy nexus in trade which I was not going to down grade in my opinion and then send google my HTC evo 4g LTE in trade no thanks. And sprint has been nothing but a hassle and even now they want me to send back my device first, be without a phone, and wait for my new device to come in the mail. And I can't exchange it for a swap in a corporate store because I purchased my evo online. And I don't have any other device for temporary use because I had sold my evo 3d back to sprint the day I got my evo LTE so I'm basically stuck :( :( so please learn from this lesson I know I have and its not fair but I have that's for sure!! After countless emails with sprint and phone calls and wasted hours of time I got absolutely nowhere so don't reset your phone until you have disabled wallet from within the app. I wish they would have told me that before hand but obviously they did not :( so now I'm done for in that aspect :(

Okay guys I finally went to my.local corp sprint store after today and yesterday my texts and all notifications just quit coming through...well.long behold I now have a new device!!! Free of charge!!! Now before I ruin google wallet again I need a piece of advice and please make sure before you tell me..if I use the same gmail account to set up google wallet that I did the first time will it cause it to brick again!? Since I previously activated google wallet with that email on my other device which I finally was able to swap out within my 14 days!!???

Just a heads up I was getting ready to unlock my device so I went in to clear Wallet before the process it got hung up around 99% and sat there for about 15 minutes. It never finished and closed out and when I re-entered Wallet I get the "Initializing your device" loading screen but it will never get past that. A quick search on XDA turned up THIS THREAD and 2 poeple have run into the exact same issue. He had to return his device as he was getting the " secure element not responding" message.

I followed every step properly and not sure what else I could have done to prevent this? I have not received the secure element message yet but I am afraid it is too late for my beloved Evo. So be warned it appears you may be able to brick wallet simply by clearing it and it fails to do so properly I will mess with it and see what I can come up with but it is not looking good.

Update: So my secure element is definitely bricked"from just clearing the app" hadn't reset/rooted/unlocked anything. Even worse I took it to a Sprint store and not a sole in the repair center had ever heard of such a thing. So all they did was factory reset my device and said here it should work now. So I booted up the phone and showed them how it did not fix anything. They said they cannot give me a new phone for a malfunctioning app(with insurance). So I am stuck who did you talk to 814 to get yours replaced?

Well my friend I had went through multiple calls to sprint customer service some of them were 3-5 hours of me complaining!!!! Then I also e mailed HTC and google wallet support multiple times about the issue and HTC/phandroid mods were the most helpful in forcing/helping me get sprint to give me a new device!! Although sprint was very reluctant in helping me for the same reason as you but with phandroid and HTC on my side it helped a lot I'm sure!!

But be careful because I spent 5 hours on the phone with sprint still demanding a new device and they told me once my 14 days is up then I'd Haveto pay the insurance premium or be stuck with a defective device as far as google wallet was concerned and so I hadto raise h e double hockey sticks and blah blah blah...and they would not extend the 14 days for no reason!!! So I suggest you email HTC about this issue like I did, wait for a rep to call you over the phone, Express your anger carefully but forcefully, and if the HTC rep you talk to calls sprint for you like he did for me, he should be able to help!! My local sprint corp store did a swap for me after a week and a half of battling with sprint customer service which was no help and google which was no help... Google only offered me a galaxy nexus in exchange for my defective 2 day old device!!

But when I went into the corporate store they asked if they can do a factory reset first to test it and see if that will fix the issue first and made me sign a waiver...I did that and they did the reset and once they saw that didn't fix the issue they were more than happy to hook me up with a brand new device straight from the back room!!!

So I'd suggest taking that route email HTC and you can always try sprint but there no help atleast not for me they weren't but the local corporate store with HTC on my side was very helpful so try that route my friend cause sprint customer service is nothing but people who have no clue or care!! They told me to do this, do that I did and nothing worked...drove to a repair center and the rep there had no idea what to do or how to fix it.. so I wasted my time and gas!! So trust me try what I did and if no luck il pm you with my contact info if you'd like for more specific details on what I did so this post isn't already longer then it is now lol good luck my friend !!!! :-) :-) :-)

And I'm not sure what it means but I just noticed google wallet has an update and the update features ** New form factors for new devices!? What does that mean? Because since my whole ordeal with google wallet since I still have the same gmail I had with my old evo 4g LTE that became defective I have been very hesitant to activate wallet using the same email so I still havent activated wallet on my new phone until I know for sure 100% I'm safe to use the same gmail address as before when my google wallet account became bricked over a factory reset....

Yep, just make sure you reset it before you do it or the secure element gets borked.

As long as it is reset, you can factory reset to your hearts desire :D

It seems that the Secure Element only gets screwed up on a rare occasion if you do not go into the app and clear it before doing a hard reset.

Thanks e.mon. yeah I have been having this problem of sense constantly re loading after I close any and all apps. I just cleared the sense cache and data and it is still doing it each and every time so now I'm going to look through those forums and hope I find a fix or factory data reset here I come :( :( anyone else having the same issue? Any info on a fix would be greatly appreciated !! Thanks everyone!
Okay, I had the same problem and it was such a drag waiting for the reload that I was ready to throw away the phone. I suspected that for some reason the Sense overlay was inappropriately restarting. Someone else suggested using a different launcher cyanogen launcher on the google play. I loaded that and an accompanying additional launcher that was specified. Worked great, but I missed the pretty Sense overlay that was on my phone. So I deleted both launcher apps, and Voila, my original Sense worked perfectly without a delay. I am not a tekkie, and half the time I don't know what I am doing, but out of dumb luck I fixed my issue. Good luck to you and others and maybe HTC can figure out this incompatibility issue and get a fix

All that fighting and now Google wallet is down!..... Ugh

Ok I have a question I know Google wallet has had a couple updates and I used my Google wallet for the free 10 bucks already. This am my phone started rebooting over and over never going to the home screen. It just goes from the Sprint screens back and forth back and forth and is stuck in this loop cycle. Sprint told me to Hard reset HTC knew nothing about the Google Wallet thing which was weird. I really don't want to reset my phone but if I have to I will I need a working phone.

I let the battery drain re charged it turned it back on and it's still in this cycle over and over. HTC said I needed to go into safe mode to see what app was causing this but then he didn't see in the manual how to do that. I can hold the volume down and get to the bootloader screen where it says hard reset or clear storage but I am afraid to do it. I did use google wallet and is there still a problem if I was to Hard Reset? I probably won't use it again but I still am afraid to hard reset till I know for sure. Sprint said take it into the store tomorrow. Do you think the problem is fixed now? I was having problems with my phone after this last udate Handcent would take forever to open had black screen and yahoo same way and it kept not responding.

But today out of the blue I looked at my phone saw it rebooting and it never stopped I see an HTC screen the Sprint logo screen then the HTC with beats audio screen and it goes through all 3 screens over and over. Is the goole wallet thing fixed can I hard reset since I've used Google wallet or not? Thanks!

Learn from my mistake I'm the one who found out first and this thread started because of me.. I factory reset on day 2 of having this device thanks to pre ordering and I got mine before everyone else who pre ordered through stores...basically I had mine early...anywho I found out the hard way unless u reset google wallet from within the app itself DO NOT FACTORY RESET !!!!!!!!! I REPEAT DO NOT DO NOT !!!!! I PLAYED HELL with HTC, sprint, even google to get a new device and finally I was able to, but TRUST ME DO NOT IF YOU PLAN TO OR WISH TO USE GOOGLE WALLET IN THE FUTURE !!!!!

But is it fixed now this article claims it is. I don't know what to do.

HTC EVO 4G LTE Update Enables Google Wallet, Kills Bugs

Maybe first try to hold the power for 10 seconds or so, see if that helps.

If you can get into the phone, open Wallet, menu, settings, reset Wallet.

Then you can do a factory data reset if you still need to. You'll lose all apps and data doing that, do you have a backup?

No I don't have a backup and am not rooted but now I want to have a backup once it's back up and running. I read on Good & EVO that Titanium can be used for non rooted people now I don't know. But I had no choice but to do a hard reset so now I have to configure everything all over again and reinstall all my apps what a pain. I don't know what caused it neither but my phone rebooted over and over and would never make it to the home screen.

Was going to go into Sprint store today but I have a feeling all they would of done was Hard Reset it also. I couldn't get into Google Wallet but it told me my version wasn't supported so I updated and i am signed in but I won't use it anyway. Only used it before cause of the ten bucks.

( I hard reset this am added back several apps alot actually and then got to work and it started doing the same thing. I hard reset again and HTC said don't add any apps for a couple days and Sprint said maybe take it to store for diagnostics)
