Sense glitch?

Once and a while I will be using my phone and when I go back to the home screen, I get the white screen with HTC in green right in the center.

I finally got a screen shot of it too. The only issue is the delay, it doesn't seem to damage anything else. Who has seen this, and what can I do?

I don't know how to put the picture up since I'm using the Phandroid app to post this right now.

If I went to Verizon, they would just factory reset, and I can do that myself if necessary. Any ideas?

does it happen when leaving the same app back to the homescreen everytime or is it just random apps that your leaving and it does it? Have you installed any new apps or updates recently around the same time when this started?

I have pulled the battery, but only recently. Don't remember if it has happened since. I'll keep track. It first did it maybe a couple months ago, not a predictable thing really.

I've also had my phone freeze up with any random use, but shutting off my screen and then unlocking it again fixes it. First I thought it was Pandora, but after uninstalling and reinstalling that app, and seeing it does it randomly, even with this Phandroid app, I know it's something else

Mine does the same thing...typically after I've been using multiple apps (Hanging, Scrable & Words for example). What causes it is the RAM is running low. What I do to fix it is either do a restart or close some of the apps by going into settings, applications, running services & then I'll stop some of the apps I'm not using which are typically the 3 I mentioned earlier. For some reason when I play the games and then back out of them....they'll keep running. Looking now since I just played all 3. Only have 268 MB of RAM left (Hanging Free using 25 MB, Scramble Free using 41 MB, Words Free using 21 MB & Phandroid using 16 MB).....and typically when it get's down in the 200's that's when I get the Sense restart. I'll go in and "stop" all 4 of those and then I'll be fine untill I open them back up again and it starts using too much RAM. I just don't understand why these apps are still using RAM when I have backed out of them. Maybe someone else with a little more knowledge of the way the system works can answer that.

Makes sense. I haven't been using the task manager enough, because I was thinking that if they stayed open in the background that they would open quicker. I guess unless I know I'm using it soon, anything that uses a lot of ram should be shut off. Thanks!

No problem. I just don't understand why things stay running and using RAM when they are closed.

I don't understand why we have problems with low ram when all the experts say android is designed to run by using the most ram possible. Seems counter-intuitive to me.

Yeah I thought Android runs different than Windows, which always has issues like this. I thought it managed tasks on its own. I hope getting an ICS OTA will improve. It seems Sense is memory hungry more than other UI's.

Seems like after some amount of time the amouts of RAM the apps use drops down...although I'd think they wouldn't use any since I backed out of them. For example.....compared to the amounts of RAM used that I listed in my previous post here....the readings are now as follows: Hanging Free 3.8 MB, Phandroid 32 MB, Scrable Free 8.2 MB and Words Free 3.9 MB with total free RAM being 334 MB. So looks like after a certain amout of time the RAM these apps use drops down. I think my problem is when I get caught up on all my games I do it all at once without letting the amount of RAM used to drop back down for each app.

The Facebook app after enough updates is pure evil to run. Not only does it take a lot of memory, but doesn't want to work properly. I was able to stop most of the problems by uninstalling all updates to the app so that it's only the version that came on the phone. For now, I'm refusing to update it. It still does what I want and is far more stable as is now.

I've started using Friendcaster instead of the Facebook App. I know a lot of people use the browser for facebook instead of an app.

The Ram works more like an on demand type thing. That is why those apps continue to say that they are using a little bit of Ram. Until another app comes along that needs it then they will hold on to it. Yes to speed it up if you need to go back into the app.

As with anything though nothing runs at 100% efficiency so hopefully with future updates it will get better.

I would use just the browser or friendcaster, but it's more difficult to post pictures and such without the app, therefore I use it. I will keep using an old version until updates help it out.
