Root Sense Striping

Jaay Dogg

I've been doing alot of reading on (Sense) this & sense is kinda of bills@it, so I'm attempting to gut it out but it's easier said then done, it's everywhere inside the rom. Anybody have some input on this ?

I was able to get rid of sense launcher and htc lockscreen just by freezing or deleting it, rest of that crap is way past my tech knowledge lol

only thing i like from htc is the dialer/people app, rest of it can go to hell :D

I totally agree, this is why I'm gutting it De-Sensed so to speak. You said you got rid of the sense lockscreen what does it use now ?

It uses the stock ICS lockscreen -- though one annoying thing is that the lockscreen stays on for an incoming call so you have to unlock, enter your password, etc before you can even see who's calling.

yeah, that was quite annoying, had to change it back for that reason. guess they both use that same apk :(

there has to be a way to get stock ics call answer screen without having to unlock the "regular" lockscreen first.think it would be possible to pull it from an original ICS rom and stick it in here?

p.s. i did read somewhere that unlocking issue can be fixed by installing go launcher+go locker, havent tried yet.

Doesn't that once click root thing still work for de-sensing? (The ACS one)

Once I got my kernel rooted on my EvilKingdom rom, I was able to use that. It seemed to work great. Though I don't want want get rid of sense, so I eventually re-sensed. :P

If I recall it only freezes the apps, doesn't remove them. If you want to de-sense or de-bloat I would recommend to remove them. How ever you can't remove anything in a sense rom that actually deals with sense. With out borking something in turn. Where I'm not sure if ics has the issue but on gingerbread if you remove the lockscreen it borks multi-touch.

if anybody finds a way to do this and get a decent working stock ICS lock screen an nova launcher or apex laucher in replacement and could have this as a cwm flashable rom i'll pay 100$ for it.

With $100, you can just buy a used Nexus S 4G :D

i could but i prefer the extra .2 ghz and 256 mb of ram lol. and im through boost. and idk how complicating it is to use a sprint phone on boost. never done it. but does anybody know a good lock screen app to get the galaxy nexus lock screen :P.

Widgetlocker is the best in my opinion. Thousands of themes & setups. You can share backups too.

my main priority is the notification bar now. I would love to find a way to get the stock ICS one. i'm looking into how to do it myself but having issues finding the SystemUI.apk any help in this field? i already have a pretty decent idea of how to do it just need to find the apk and possibly a how to of how to replace it once i finish without having to do a nandroid restore :P after i get that done i'm gonna try to do a nandroid backup again then wipe the phone all all personal info contacts, google info.. personal apps.. tiny things :P then gonna let you guys check out what i've done. its pretty glorious i believe :P. but yea a bit of assistance in that one little department would be greatly appreciated.

open the rom up on your PC & follow this path system/app/systemUI.apk, but be warned attempting to remove sense is most likely gonna break the rom, so do a backup before you do anything.

I came across this link yesterday and installed it on my phone and confirm that it does work. There is no 4g notification bar icon and you will need to download a switch for it in the market. It could use some fine tuning appearance wise.

yeah that little zip file didn't work for me. welp time to restore my nandriod backup, im going to delete all of my personal files out of it and upload it for you guys to check out.

I have pulled a ton of crap off my phone...Most of the HTC is gone with the exception of the framework file. Make sure you have a working lock screen before deleting the htc one or you might end up with a black desktop that won't respond to anything
