Separate Volume controls

I was in the car listening to music from my motion while the gps was on. The phone was plugged in to the cars audio aux jack. I set the volume to a good listening level. The problem comes when the phones gps tries to give directions. The audio for the gps is too low. Is there a way to control the media and gps volumes separate? The has to be a way to control the media and gps volume levels separate.
