Root Serendipity 6.4 bugs?

Could you let me know what bugs, if any are in Serendipity 6.4? I've been pouring over threads from a number of sites however alot of the posts are now quite old. Some say swype doesn't work, others that wifi doesn't go, the whole phone freezes etc etc however the number of people that say it's brilliant is amazing.

Just trying to figure out what I should go to from a standard capivate...:confused:
 
I have been using 6.4 with no problems and will be staying with 6.4 until the GR rom becomes stable. If your coming from a stock captivate you will love 6.4 and will never go back to stock ;)
 
Haven't encountered any bugs as of yet. Been a month since I've been using 6.4. Nothing, I think the rom is flawless.
 
The only real bug is the time without signal bug present in many 2.2.1 ROMs. If your battery use -> cell standby reports a time without signal of 50%, you need to toggle airplane mode and will need to do so after each reboot.
 
I asked this in a nother forum and had hope 6.4 would fix the issue as I had it with 5.12 as well..

EVERY time I turn on bluetooth I get this - "The Application OPP (process com.android.bluetooth) has stopped unexpectedly..." force close error. I hoped it would be resolved with the update...any help?

Someone had suggested bluetooth backup app but that did nothing for my problem, though it looks like a nice app.
 
I have been using 6.4 and the Paragon kernel for a while with no problems. LauncherPro does not work as well as before but I do not think that is the ROM.
 
Do you think a Kernal Change would help/solve my problem? I know little about "Kernal vs Rom" and what they specifically affect to be totally honest...

Hmmmm.... I use bluetooth alot so not having that would be a problem. Maybe given my skill level at this stage I might be best to go to froyo and keep reading threads

This still happens to me once in a while but I just turn bluetooth off and on again and everything is fine. The same kind of error comes up for my gingerbread keyboard though...eventhough I'm not even using the keyboard.

I think I'm going to switch back to 5.12. That was when there was absolutely nothing wrong and my battery life was on average about 2 days. I only switched to 6.x because of the enticing change log
 
well...I decided to wipe clean and try a different rom. Cognition. This has been a disaster. I get no sounds, gmail doesnt update the server. Plus a number of other random FC's and of course this did not fix my bluetooth problem anyway.

I restored from my tiB and I assume that just brought in all the bad stuff and more

So I need to wipe again. My NEW question is this...I want to now just wipe clean and start from scratch - Can someone tell me how I can backup just these two things? - SMS conversations and contacts (as they are now) - Everything else I can get manually, I hope.
 
Contacts are restored automatically if they were saved to your google account. Check your gmail contacts and they should be there. Use "SMS backup & restore" to save your conversations. Don't forget to transfer the backuped file from the phone prior to wiping everything

if you restored your system data when you restored everything that is your problem.

Yep....I did. I misunderstood what data restoration would do (or lack thereof) I guess I should have just restored the apps? Either way I think I need a clean slate anyway....

Is everyone still happy with 6.4? I really liked 5.12! I think Serendipity is the most clean and elegant rom there is, of course that is also in part due to its built in theme. But great work
 
I loved 6.4 while I was on it....NO problems at all! I've since moved on to GR-11 and also have no problems (minor stuff, but it IS in BETA right now....)

Love MikeyMike's stuff!!!!

For whatever its worth just wanted to give my feedback. I wiped, and rooted then installed 6.4. It is amazing (as I knew it would be) No more bluetooth errors and no FC's at all. I added on the bluedipity, which I personally love, blue battery, and the regular Gmail bc the grey is tough to see in daylight. I also found with the speed of the phone just reinstalling apps with the appbrain sync is fast enough. I didn't even bother with tiB and have no problems. The SMS backup and restore is great too.

The phone is faster than ever and clean! Just really happy with MikeyMike's work. I hope he makes TONS of cash from some big tech company by day bc he deserves it.

OH BTW: I used to run zeam launcher but found that the only things I really needed from it were the 6 icon dock (which I can live without) and the ability to swipe down and up on the screen for extra functions. Does anyone know if I can add just a swipe function in serendipity? It would make my phone truly complete!
 
I posted the following 4 weeks ago, and am still experiencing the same issues:

- I frequently lose all network connectivity, whether it's WiFi or cellular. I have to reboot each time this happens, which is only a minor inconvenience, but an inconvenience nonetheless.
- My screen dims while using it. The backlighting dims, I mean, not that the screen is going blank/locking.
- My phone didn't ring this morning, nor did it show a missed call, which resulted in being fussed at by my ex-wife. I also didn't get the texts she sent until 3.5 hours later (all 6 rolled in at once; this may have been a network issue, though)

Since then I have determined the text issue is not the network, as it continues to happen and, after some testing and collaborating with several other ATT users, have determined it's isolated to me. I am also not receiving some texts altogether (I sent 3 tests from a phone on Tuesday and they still haven't come through).

those are just the addons you checked, they can be used with different roms, well the apps atleast im not sure about the rest

Why don't you just install Zeam Launcher? I use LauncherPro Plus, you don't have to stick with the stock launcher.

I had the same message come up when I try to do a file transfer. Music streaming and headset seem to work OK. I was on 6.2 and just updated to 6.4. I also updated my modem to JQ1 from JK4. It didn't work before the updated and it still doesn't work right now. I really hope I don't have to clean and redo everything to get my bluetooth working correctly. It seems like it takes forever to get everything set back up like you want it.
 
I installed 6.4 the other day. I haven't come across any real problems as of yet. However, I have noticed that battery life isn't as good as it was on the updated Froyo (through Kies). I did recalibrate the battery a few times from a few different methods I've found in forums.

Anyone else experiencing this? Other thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

I did my first flash the other day, serendipity 6.4 and everything seems great except the default browser, which I prefer to use, doesn't work and the email I added from the kitchen force closes every time I try to open it. Any help would be appreciated. Is there another e-mail app I can get on the market maybe? I can't seem to find a free one anywhere.
