Root Serendipity now 5.10

Egg-zactly :)

Looks good. One more question since this is the first time I've gone back to stock.

I've got 5.10 flashed just need to reinstall apps. Is is safe to use TiB App+ App Data. Not sure if any app data would mess anything up?

Should I use the SGS kernel flasher first or can I update the Kernel any time there is an update? I know a new one came out today.

I'm sure this just gets easier with time. I must say I was a bit nervous getting Odin up and running. Finally found a video because the instructions just weren't working. The command line worked much better than the button trick for me.

i always do apps only never app+data

as for flashing kernel yes after you flash the latest rom then get sgs kernal flasher from the market and throw the kernel on your device then flash it.

takes like 10 seconds

real easy man and i too am pretty new to all this but there is alot of help out there and once you do it a couple times it becomes real easy

Good Luck:D:D

Yea, I have no problem with upgrades its just the thought of flashing back to root had me worried. I guess I was like that the first time I rooted and flashed a ROM also.

I do apps plus data - just not system data. And yes, it definitely does get easier the more you do it and the more knowledge you gain.

Had the same issue after installing Launcher Pro. On reboot I get a black screen on my home screen. Its set as my default launcher and its just not turning on I guess. Guess I'll get use to the Gingerbread Launcher. Mainly use LP to change the docks and dock icons. Not that big a lose. Was having some issues with it on Cognition also.

I can only think its some kind of app conflict. I've had software that didn't play well together before. I do have a couple addons installed from the kitchen. I didn't try to use it before adding those. Thats about when it went wacky last time on me. After I installed the Green Circle Battery and Samsung Mail / Keyboard. Not sure if one of those is messing with it.

Everything else is working great. More than happy.

Testing out ADW Launcher for the first time. Seems to be working without issue. Not sure what is conflicting with LP.

gps searching

I was running Perception b.8, then got the exciting perma-landscape issue. Flashed Cog 3.04 and love it. The firebird 2 kernel is amazing, also. I also picked up the poweramp app, and the music is just amazing with voodoo.

What advantages does Serendipity over Cog 3.04? Cuz right now everything is working great, and I don't feel like flashing back to stock and backing everything up then flashing Serendipity unless there is a value to do so.

thoughts?

People who switch to Serendipity from Cognition all seem to say it's faster, smoother, just a better UI - but I can't speak to it, I've only used Assonance, and then Serendipity. Once I found Serendipity I really saw no reason to flash anything else. I have better things to do with my time, I just want my phone to work well - and now it does :)
