Serious...Bionic vs X?

My stepson ordered a Bionic as an upgrade from his OG Droid. I will check it out thoroughly and maybe get one myself, maybe not. The wife wants an upgrade and said she will gladly take my Droid X.

nothing unfair about comparing what I have to what I don't. For me, I have to pay full retail for my next phone since I don't have an upgrade until March '12, so I'll keep my Benjis in my pocket for a while longer.

Or, since your DX is so great, you can just use it until March '12 and keep your benjis in your pocket even longer.

If ICS wen't being released soon, I would. I just can't resist the thought of unmolested ICS. I've been waiting for a Nexus option on VZW for 2 years and I'll drop my DX like a bad math class if/when it's available.

ICS will be nice and I can't wait for it to drop on the D3 (though it probably won;t be for a year knowing Moto). But I'm pretty sure Verizon is not getting the nexus prime. That's heading to AT&T. From what I read they're getting the droid prime, which maybe essentially the same hardware and may also have ICS, but will likely still have touchwiz running on top. Still, it should be unlocked from the get since its from sammy so you should eventually be able to go completely stock ICS. Just FYI.

atleast he didn't make the mistake of getting a droid 3 instead of the bionic :). Just kidding, but you keep mentioning the droid 3.

OK so after needing to use an upgrade on my account I went ahead and got the Bionic and passed my much loved DX to my son.

After having this phone for 48 hours all I can say is WOW! This is another great phone by Motorola. Right now I don't have 4G, but I am hearing November. However my download speeds even on 3G are about 2x more than with the DX. The phone is just flat out fast, even on stock. Being able to have mirror HDMI is great, just plug in the HDMI cable and steam Netflix to the TV, or heck even just what you have on your phone.

The screen because of the Pentile display is not as crisp as the DX and you can see that. However using Tweekdark the white text on black background is STUNNING!

I think the biggest question now is, will there be a large development community for the Bionic like there was the DX, if there is this will be an amazing phone. That being said the phone has been out for one week and I just finished making my first back-up in CWR and they have CM booting, not usable yet, but booting. These are good signs.

However unlike with the DX if any builds do not fully support all this phone can do, HDMI out, 1060p HD, front camera and so on, I will not go to them.

I know the OP has the Bionic as well and the answer to the questions that were asked all seem to be yes. The only unknown at this point is how big will the development community be.

I was not planning on upgrading from my DX to Bionic because it did not look to be a big enough upgrade, well after using it for 48 hours I was wrong. This phone is a big upgrade, if only they would have put the DX screen on it, however I am getting use to it.
