Help Serious Issue - Please Help!

Woke up late today (my alarm on my phone didn't got off) - because my Droid had the black screen. It's happened before - usually you can pull the battery and it powers back on - but not today. Its been charging, I've pulled the battery multiple times now, taken out the SD and SIM cards, nothing will make my phone turn on. Called Verizon, they want to send me a refurbished phone (I got the Bionic on drop day) - I flipped out, I shouldn't have to take a refurb for a manufactuer defect. Apparently that's Moto's policy, which I wasn't aware of. So I called Moto, told them that I'm not taking a refurb, and they want me to send in my phone to see if it can be fixed. My guess is that its not going to be able to be fixed and they are going to send me a refurb anyway. I am beyond annoyed right now. Does anyone have any suggestions??? PLEASE????

go to your local VZW store. An actual VZW store if you have one not a VZW retailer. They may have refurbs in stock to give you. If not have them overnight you one.

I know it sux but yeah if your not within 30 days of purchase you get refurbs.

I got my DX on launch..7 days later i got the speaker buzz, i got a brand new one not a refurb because i was still in the 30 day window.

call a few times. some times you get someone to work with you. when i worked for vzw, we were told the certified units that would replace defective ones sometimes are new units that were tested for q/a. not always used. the certified pre owned are used. now think, it sucks to get a certified phone but, at least they were tested to be running correctly. the ones in the stores that are new were never tested.

True, but I don't want to risk getting a refurb with scratches/wear. Do they typically have that?

Well add me to the bsod problem. Very strange. My alarm did not go off this morning. I looked at my phone and the notification light was blinking but I could not get the device to wake up or screen to come on. It was not plugged in and had about 50% on battery. I pulled the battery and after replacing everything started up fine.

Pocket protection was off and battery mode is in performance mode. I don't know what to think of this.

I wonder if the alarm tried to go off and crashed the phone. IDK

I have cleared "data" on alarm and clock app to see if it helps. I really wonder if the alarm clock crashed the device. Because the alarm never went off. When I looked at the alarm app. The alarm was still checked on.

Oh and I did have "backup alarm" checked on.

I feel your pain - mine committed suicide this morning. Woke up and checked it, everything was fine except battery was low, put it on the charger and a half hour later it would not come on. Pulled battery and tried everything. Went to a Verizon store and they tried new battery... didn't work. They couldn't give me new one because I ordered it online. I have to wait until Monday.

Tried using USB/Computer when I got home and the white led came on but nothing else happened...so sad!

Maybe...but mine wouldn't restart even after a battery pull. I keep trying all day, but as of now my phone is completely useless.

Its so weird - so are within the 14 day mark and able to get a new phone, not a refurb?

never. They would not send you a device like that. I have had a couple of certified like new replacements and had zero problems.

the last i checked you had 30 days from when you got it that you could get a new one replaced not a refurb.

its part of the 30 day worry free guarantee. I tried finding it on VZW's site but its having issues at the moment.

I was told by Verizon that you only have 14 days now. Take that with a grain of salt. I've been told things in the past by Verizon and the info turned out to be wrong.

I was going to send in my phone to Moto to see if it could be fixed...but it just seemed like more hassle than what it was worth. So I put up my white flag and settled for the certfied pre owned. Its supposed to come in the mail tomorrow. Now back to my crappy Eris til then :( I was going to fight for a credit on my account, since pre owned usually sells for less than new...but I bought from Walmart, so I figured that wouldn't work.

My store told me it was 14 days! What is the story?

Same scenario here. Phone was locked on reboot screen when I got up in the am. Would not turn on no matter what I tried. Went to the VZ sore where the rep tried troubleshooting to no avail. Said it was the first time he had seen the problem. Getting a replacement this week(assuming a refurb). He reactivated my Eris, which btw, never did anything like this. Hoping that this is not a bad sign, because I really like the phone.

Interesting that of the above posts two phones quit on the 14th and the third quit today. I tried to use my phone while at dinner tonight. Hit the on button to bring the screen up but when it came up to my home screen it was frozen and wouldn't do anything. A battery pull fixed it but really, come on now. Sitting in a restaurant and having to do a battery pull on the state of the art droid device just ain't cool! This and the intermittent lack of data service is starting to get old fast. I've had this one since the day after the debut. Interesting how now the problems are starting.

I have never seen a certified like new with even a fingerprint on them

I can attest to this, i got my 11th og droid 2 months before the Bionic released. And it was brand spanky new condition.
Out of those 11 og droids i got one refurb that was rode hard and put away wet! But i complained to vzw tech @ *611 and they overnighted another that was in decent shape.
Now im on my second Bionic and lifes good

11?? WOW. I had 2 Droids total between when the Droid was released and when I got my Bionic on launch day. That was only because of a partial touch screen failure after over a year on the first one.

Are you seriously unlucky or do you just abuse your phones?

I got the OG on launch day Nov 6th 09. I have a rough job and unfortunately my OG Droid took most of the beatings over the past almost two years, HtC Touch pro before that, and LG Dare before that, as well as an LG Chocolate. All were beat up. And hopeing my Bionic will last till I can see what the G-Nex is all about. I have been promoted out of the pits so i dont expect to much a thrashing on these new phones!
