Service Center Bug

I have a new unlocked HTC Desire (from Carphone Wharehouse) and I am on T-mobile. I open the Message client, and try to enter the Service Center number "+447958879879" as provided by T-mobile.

When I try to send a text message, I receive the following message. "Unable to send the message after multiple attempts". If I then check the Service Center section, I now find the field blank.

Could someone please help, am I missing something very simple. What do I need to change?

The problem was the SIM card, it was too old. Once I received a new SIM card the Service Center number issue resolved itself. T-mobile was not aware of this problem. I hope this helps someone.
