what service provider does this phone work on.. i can only recieve signal in my area from one provider? can i program this phone to recieve any provider?

It works on Sprint. You'll want to check for coverage in your area if you want it to work. I got lucky and have decent coverage where I live (unless I go into large buildings). Visiting my in-laws turns this phone into a brick however (they live 20 minutes away).
