Root Service went haywire?

Hey guys, I just wanted to know what you guys thought about my phone's signal pretty much freaking out....

I flashed my phone a few times, and it works fine.. but my signal seems struggle just to send a simple text message these days. a few weeks ago.. a rom I used blanked my phone number and service state... I have reflashed it back to stock and flashed back to my rooted rom which brought my phone back into service. But my question is this... Is Metro known to have such a low end signal?

Maybe im just living in a bad location? I updated my PRL file today in hopes the "3g" going around would improve something but it was no go.

You're just in an area with a bad signal, in my area you would be lucky to get two bars

It almost seems unacceptable, I'm in metro Detroit and never have signal issues so therefore I don't complain when I hand over 52 dollars every 28th. But if I struggled to send a text message id be on the phone with them daily until the signal was fixed or my bill reflected the low service.
