Root Set CPU for root users

Leedroid (for me) is one of the worst ROM's for battery life that i have tried.... Im currently on Neyo's NextSense 5.3 battery life is really good on this. But seriously considering a move to his new WhiteExperience, Non-sense fast as fook, i will probably wait till its had a few releases first though....

When i change my settings (Lowering Max) when you look at the widget it still says 998 max.

Is there something i have to do to enable my choice?

Sorted, had to turn off perf lock.

Yeah, you have to disable it on every boot. I also had to disableand renable profiles.

I did mention thus earlier in the thread butit seems the databaseissues the other day caused it to get lost

I think the perf lock must already be disabled on my ROM as it says that there is a problem with my kernal.... But im sure that i read on Neyophyte's thread that he has disabled perf lock

I have perflock disabled on my current Rom and it works seamlessly. I boot up and setcpu just works. If I attempt to disable perflock, it still says successful. Maybe it simply isn't compatible with your Roms kernel like it says?!

I've just installed the 1305MHz Kernel, more than anything just to see what the Desire was like overclocked (can't resist tinkering). I've set up SetCPU to scale on demand and also to run at minimum with the screen off. My question is, by ramping up to 1305 MHz in SetCPU, how much of an adverse effect on the life of the CPU will this likely have? and any reccomendations?

EDIT: 1305 MHz Kernel for DeFrost 3.0b

Well the adverse effects are usually due to more power going through the CPU to increase the Clock speed, resulting in more heat and a shorter life.

If you read the first thread in the defrost post on XDA, it states that he has undervolted with the kernel, so he has managed to get 1305Mhz clock speed without increasing the power input (or so tahts how it reads to me).

if this is true, not a lot of effect.

Also, the 998Mhz Kernel is undervolted much less than stock, so you should see good battery saving on that.

PS, fast isn't it?! ;)

In that case i'll be keeping it ramped right up then :D i'm not too worried about battery saving, it easily gets me through the day as it is.

And, oh yeah, it's noticeably quicker, keep trying to trip it up and make it lag but i can't!
