Help Set time for apps auto-update?

ppzhao

Newbie
Phone: Motorola Droid.

Android 2.2 auto-update: I find this to be very helpful, but many times my phone is slow when I need to use it because it's updating apps in the background. I downloaded lots of apps so there's usually something that updates itself daily. Is there a way to tell the phone "only do auto-updates between 2AM-6AM", so it'll do it while I'm asleep so I don't have to worry about the phone updating stuff while I need to use it?

Thanks everyone.

I don't think so. But you can find apps like super power which limits your 3G connection to bursts, which might or might not solve your problem.

Actually, apps like Tasker / Locale / Timeriffic can help - hey can help you set time periods when sync is on and off, and that would take care of your issues, IIRC.

I may be wrong, but I think that is sync is disabled, then the market will not check for updates either.

If I were you I'd pick whichever one has a free usage period and try it out and see if that helps.

You might could even set it so that sync is only enabled when WiFi is enabled, giving you a much greater degree of freedom than just using time periods.

Note: Do realize that limiting your sync will also limit when emails, contacts, etc are also synchronized to the phone.
