Root SetCPU may be causing some of your random shutdowns.

I have had SetCPU installed since day one, but I just today started creating the profiles and everything, but it made a mess of my phone.

The phone shutdown every 5 minutes and I had to take out the battery and put it back in about 15 times today. And when my phone was rarely on, it was slow as hell. (Even at full battery, where I had a profile set to run at full power, so it wasn't a user error afaik)

I realized that SetCPU may have been the culprit, and the second it was uninstalled my phone started running fast again and I have not had a random shutdown since.

So, if you are still experiencing the common random shutdowns, try to see if SetCPU may be your problem too. If it is, contact the developer and try to get an explanation or solution, which is what I plan to do tomorrow.

Hope this helps.

its because when first running setcpu.. it defaults the settings at

Min: 100
Max: 1000
conservative mode...

so when your screen is off.. it is essentially runs close to 100 mhz.... which is way to slow... try setting the min to like 400 or 600.. and the problem shouldn't persist...

or you can add custom profiles which is what i do.. and it improved my battery life... :)

Mine runs fine with the default setting at 100-1200. The problem with SetCPU and the Galaxy S is the "on-demand" setting I believe. I don't use any other profiles since it downclocks itself accordingly well enough already.

i did have problems with it.. especially with the slider... it works for me though so far after upgrading my firmware..

i didn't know default was min 100 and max 1000.. thats great to know

so far no problems.. it is slow when waking the phone up from sleep mode.. but im expecting that...

however for me it does save me battery life... i can go over a day without charging .. i guess it depends on how people use their phones

Yep if you get the "system panel lite" app, open it up it will show the processor speed throttling.

Leave it alone for a few seconds and it will drop to 100, move your finger around and it will jump to 1000
