Root SetCPU - Overclocking ?

My phone is rooted and I am running the stock ROM. I have disabled Perflock but the highest I can get the CPU is the default 998. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Yes, you have to flash a custom kernel that allows a higher max. Disabling the perflock just allows you to change the max/min with HTC kernels. It doesn't go higher or lower than the already predefined range. Almost all custom kernels out there have higher ranges and already have perflock disabled. Feel free to search the Evo section for threads discussing common custom kernels. A good source of information is the Rooting for Dummies thread. Make sure to use a sense based kernel if you're sticking with either stock or a sense based ROM.
