Help Setting a Song as a Text Notification, etc.

EmsMom

Hello,

I have a Droid Incredible and would like to set a song as a text notification sound. I came across instructions for the Hero on this board (I searched but couldn't find instructions for the Incredible). Would the instructions for the Hero phone also work for the Droid Incredible? I tried posting a link to the instructions but since I am a new member, I was not allowed to. Thank you for the information and your time.

There are many ways to handle this one but IMO the easiest way is to use a file manager app and create a folder on your SD card called Notifications (note the capital "N"). Place any songs, tones, etc in said folder. Now when you pull up the options for setting notifications in the phone's menu, you will see the songs/tones you added. They will become visible in the list of possibles. Great feature of Android...can also create a folder called Ringtones and do the same if you want to keep them differentiated.

That solution worked for me until I decided that having a broad choice of selections to fit my mood means duplicating each track where you create that new folder tree (I did this for ringtones and alarms as well). I really can't stand to waste space, and then I learned of an app called Tone Picker. It's free on the Market. Not pretty, and not perfect, but it works most of the time, and it makes it much easier for you to select any system sound, ringtone, notification sound, or alarm from anywhere that you have your soundclips and music collection stored.
