I have an account on Gmail servers already. If I set it up on EVO in mail application, will EVO automatically import all of my contacts from Gmail account? I would not want that to happen. Do I have to have a Gmail account on EVO?
You need to use the GMail app, not the Mail app. You should have set up the gmail when you first got the phone. If not, go to all apps, then click setup, it will automatically setup your gmail and get your contacts.
Why would you want to manually type in all your contacts? its much easier to just let the phone get them from gmail. But if you dont, you can go into People, hit Menu-View, and unselect the gmail contacts.
If you want to download apps from the market, yes you do need one. That's kind of the point of a Google Android phone, most people have a gmail account.
