I've tried mailhost.optonline.net, mail.optonline.net and mail.optimum.net with port of 587 and nothing is working. SSL is none and whether I put a sign in or not, it not working. HELP!
So none of the tips above worked for me so I just did a mix of some of the tips and fiddled around with the outgoing section and finally success. So first make sure in the account name it's just your username and not the entire email address. Outgoing folder, change smtp to mail.optonline.net or .com depending on your email address. Then uncheck both boxes, the verify one and the other , the 587 stays and change both drop down boxes to auto. Did a test email and success for me, hope this helps someone else
