Help Setting Up School Email

That Guy
I cannot, for the life of me, get my school email account to setup correctly on my phone. Here are the directions our website gives us:

From the Home screen, tap the Application button.
Tap the Email icon.
If this is your first email account, you will be presented with an email setup screen. Tap the Next button. Otherwise, press the Menu button and tap the Add Account button.
In the "Type your account email address" box, enter your full email address, e.g. email@iwu.edu
In the second box enter your email account password.
Tap the Manual setup button
Tap the IMAP account button
Enter the following information in the spaces provided:
User name - Enter your iwu user name

Password - Enter your email

IMAP server - Enter imap.gmail.com

Port - Enter the secure port number: 993

Security type - Select the security: SSL (always)

Tap the Next button. The device will connect to the internet and check your incoming settings.
On the "outgoing server settings" screen, enter the following information in the spaces provided:
SMTP server - Enter smtp.gmail.com

Port - Enter the secure port number: 465

Security type - Select the security: SSL (always)

Tap the "Required sign-in" checkbox
In the Username box, enter your full email address.
In the Password box, enter your email account password
Tap the Next button. The device will connect to the internet and check your outgoing settings.
On the "Account options" screen, select your "Email checking frequency. (This frequency will impact battery life.)
Tap the "Notify me when email arrives" checkbox to see an alert on the status bar when you have new email.
Name your account as desired
Enter your name as you want it displayed in email

Except this doesn't match up exactly with the format of the default email on my Droid Bionic. The error keeps telling me that my password is incorrect. Anyone have revised directions that would actually get my email working?

Thanks.

Try to use corporate sync might work. Also some schools make you take your phone to I.T for security reasons. Best of luck.

R u sure u have the right password? With that said your uni is using gmail and if u go into your account make sure imap is enabled and double check the settings. The smtp doesnt look right to me but im a bit drunk. I just thought it started with 5

It looks like Google hosts the email for your school. If so, just use the regular Gmail app, no special settings needed. Just need to enter your email address (name@school.edu) and password. At least thats how it works for me.

Try removing the email extension from the login name. Can't say for sure this would work, but it does with my school's email.

With some schools, google will host the e-mail but they DO NOT have any user names/passwords. For authentication, you need to go through the school's landing page. User names/passwords are stored on some server at the school.

If that's the case, setting up through google will probably not be possible as they do not know what your password is.
