Is this supposed to be checked?

It seems I cant connect to internet unless i have 4G or Wifi turned on.

Do I need that checked so I can get internet with 3g?

Yes If its not checked, then no Data comes over 3G
its a nice option to have if you work or are going to be in an area with a very low signal so it wont try to roam for data and kill your battery

Alternatively you can hold the power button for a second to bring up the power off/airplane mode...menu and there should be an option to turn 3g on and off there

Thanks. It was probably the option off the power button that I pressed by accident.
