Help Settings Storage using loads of CPU

listnc

Lurker
Hi all,

I downloaded Watchtower System Manager as i noticed my phone becoming laggy and saw that the Settings Storage app was using between 50% and 75% of the CPU. HTC Sense was also using about 20% which I guess is normal.

I've already tried a factory reset which sorted the problem for a few days but then the problem came back. Does anyone know what this Settings Storage thing is and how to stop it using so much CPU?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've already updated to the most recent firmware as I got the phone at christmas. The lag seems to be constant and is most noticeable when typing and scrolling through menus and screens. Its also causing the android system to eat into my battery life.

thats strange....usb debugging on always solves lag issue + sw update

did u try another dhd in store or frend and compare urs performance

i have 100+ apps installed and no lag at all

No the problem only just came back today so I haven't had a chance to compare with any others. I'll try removing apps one at a time and see if that solves the problem.

I've worked out that if I stop the 'Immediate Mode Service' under HTC Sense in Running Services, then the lag stops. Does anyone else have this service running?

There's a fix listed here:

Desire HD cpu always at 99% - xda-developers

Basically, as I understand it, you just disable your HTC Sense account from sync, and it should fix the problem.

This fix didn't work for me (I never had sense sync enabled to begin with, and I still experience the problem), but maybe it will work for you -- it seems to work for everyone else.
