Help setup text and email "voicemail" messages

I bought a Captivate from a 3rd Party. My carrier is AT&T.

Can anyone tell me how to get the missed-call voicemail to appear at my Captivate as speech-to-text email, speech-to-text text message, or as
audio attached to email or MMS? I'd really like to know how to enable both and then pick-n-choose based on circumstances.

I've seen several items that talk about Google Voice and that sounds interesting. I tried it briefly but was not happy with the results. (I suspect that I did not get the setup completed correctly, but that is another posting.) [ASIDE -- I would think that Android (google) and Google Voice (google) would play well together out of the box.]

Merci d'avance,

I setup a Google Voice account with a GV phone number before I got Cappy.
Then, when I got the phone, I tried GV and had troubles. For example, it kept
asking me if I wanted to call using GV or phone carrier every time I wanted to
make a call. [I suspect trouble with new phone and new app and noob user (grin)
more than true ills.]

I just want to use GV for voice mail and text mail and s2t and ignore the GV phone number ... for now.

You can make all those configuration options on the full web interface to Google Voice, then when you set up GV on your phone the process will be simple and automatic.
