Several problems after water damage

Hi guys,

My phone got a bit wet the other day in the recent downpours. Think it is due to my very slightly cracked screen (looks like a deep scratch) but some water got in there. Was fine to begin with but could see water building up around the edges as it was left screen down. I turned it off then back on and then it wouldn't come back on properly. It booted up to the white screen with the white HTC letters and had a red led showing. It wouldn't go past this. So I left it overnight, hairdryed it as best as I could and tried it the next morning and all of the water had gone.

The problems that I am getting are:

- Security certificate warning on every website
- 'No connection, retry' on gmail and google play store (may be all internet apps?)
- Cannot update tweets on twitter. (decided to uninstall and re-install but can't as play store is not working)
- Emails won't refresh cos of the security message
- Metoffice weather app wouldn't refresh (also uninstalled)
- 'Unable to scan for networks' on WiFi, but now fixed

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys!

Hmm, I don't want to be negative but generally speaking, once water has entered your phone, it's only a matter of time before it goes kaput as it's corrosive on the old board.
I'd recommened disconnecting your phone and battery and putting in a bowl of dried rice for a minimum of 24 hours to ensure all of the moisture has gone and take it from there. The errors sounds very screwy and the start up behaviour after the confirmed water entering your device heavily implies it is already water damaged.

Come back after a day (or preferably 2) of your phone dried out in rice and see if it behaves any better.

Didn't see your reply, thought it would email me. Phone now has decided that it doesn't want to show any texts I send in the conversation. Greaaaaat. Mother is gonna ring up Virgin tomorrow as the contract is in her name and see if I can upgrade early as the phone has 'encountered problems'. There is 5 months left but I think they let you upgrade 3 months early sometimes normally anyway? Think that was the case with my last phone. If they give the thumbs down its going in a bowl of rice. Cheers!

And forgot to mention, I briefly remember the same thing happening before with water damage. I think I used it before in the shower once (music on the side, not actually in the shower haha!) and it started in the corners like it did with mine.

Hopefully any water will have got dispersed by the hairdryer but if not, as said I may stick it in a bowl of rice. Corrosion can take a while anyway, surely? If you think about leaving a bike outside, it takes months.
