Several problems:
1. Tethering manager force closes, posted this in earlier thread, and was given solution, but--
2. Can't connect to either Samsung Kies or Samsung Kies Mini
3. I *can* finally (after almost a year and a half) connect my phone to my computer and SEE my files, but I cannot move them over. I WAS able to do this after first updating to Gingerbread, but I cannot move them over now.
All of these problems started after updating to Gingerbread. I had NONE of these issues before (except that I wasn't able to see my files or move them to my computer---I've never been able to do that or connect to Kies)
I know I need to wipe my phone, but how am I going to do that if I can't save my files/games/pictures, etc?? Any advice, tips? Anything would be appreciated. The tethering manager has stopped working is driving me INSANE. Having to take the battery out/restart/reboot my phone at LEAST 5-10 times a day and that's unacceptable.
Thanks. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

In addition to the Dropbox idea, if your stuff resides on the external SD card you could simply unmount it and remove it. A factory reset will also wipe your SD card if it's installed. (At least it did mine.)
