Several questions about Cm7

Okay I have a Huawei Ascend M860 Cricket Wireless with the Cm7 mod..there's a few things I want to know if they can be changed. One when go to compose a new text message and you press the box to add a contact is there a way to actually add your contact instead of typing their name in?

Two what are the best settings for Mobile networks?

Also I have noticed my signal isn't that good no matter where I go..is there anyway to improve this?

Also I have noticed when I try to play a video its lagging is there anyway to fix this? example is when I try to load netflix on there the video lags even on a high speed wifi connection...

how do you delete icons on your desktop?

I hope I didn't ask too many questions and thank you for the help in advanced!!

2)W/Cricket,Automatic works best w/mobile networks.

3)Sorry,not much,if anything you can do for signal,short of moving to a better coverage area.If you find something,you'll certainly be awarded the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE,NO KIDDING!

4)Video isn't the greatest on this phone for a couple of reasons.
A-Weak CPU
B-No dedicated GPU


5) Long press on an unwanted desktop icon & drag to the trash can that pops up.

One thing to remember about CM7 on the Ascend is the signal indicator shows lower than the actual signal. I've used 3G many, many times with zero bars showing.

Thanks for the replies..how do I voice commands in texting? I haven't been able to figure it out..yeah I live in a bad coverage area for Verzion towers, I used to have At&t and suffered the same fate. I'm not surprised this phone doesn't have a dedicated Gpu what a shame...Thanks to the both of you anyway

For the contacts thing, you can just go to the contact and press the messaging icon and sent your message from there instead of going to the messaging app and typing it in.

Thanks for the replies..how do I voice commands in texting? I haven't been able to figure it out..yeah I live in a bad coverage area for Verzion towers, I used to have At&t and suffered the same fate. Download the app VOICE SEARCH if it isn't already on your phone.

This app will then be integrated into many of the GOOGLE APPS once on your phone,look for the mic icon when you open various GOOGLE APPS or,place a shortcut for VOICE SEARCH on your homescreen & try it as a stand-alone app.

For instance,in your question regarding texting,open the VOICE SEARCH app & simply say TEXT JANE DOE.

Then,you can either talk to text or,manually type the text in.
Cool stuff!

It appears I have no google apps installed at all for some reason..after I flashed Cm7 I flashed the apps but they didn't install..also my sd card keeps unmounting it's happened several times even after I have formatted and remounted. Any ideas?? and thanks again on the replies.

Did you load the GAPPS .zip,which can be found in the HANDY ASCEND DOWNLOAD LINKS thread?

If not,the MARKET isn't available on your phone,along w/any GOOGLE APPS.

It has to do w/some legal technicalities that CM7 (or any custom ANDROID ROM) & GOOGLE APPS(GAPPS) have to be downloaded & installed separately.

If the link to GAPPS isn't active or disabled for some reason,just do a GOOGLE SEARCH for 'gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip',download & install per the instructions in the ULTIMATE ASCEND CUSTOMIZATION GUIDE & you should be good to go.

I have the zip but for some reason I only have google talk and the market installed..I had in manually download google maps and I'm still missing others. anyone know what to with the sd card..
