Help severe SD card trouble

Patney

Newbie
I got a HTC Desire, and I've been using a 16GB SD card for it for a few months now. I'm running the MIUI_AU rom if that matters.

Yesterday, my SD card decided to behave really strangely. It allows me to open apps that are installed on it (apps2sd+) and view whatever image, listen to whatever song or watch whatever video on it as long as the app got a file browser (so the file manager works best). But no images appear in the gallery and no music is visible in any music app when I'm browsing through my library. The built in file manager in the MIUI rom displays a bar where it shows how much there is of different kind of file types by dividing areas of the bar in different colors, kinda like iTunes does if anyone has ever used that+an iPod. Usually it did this alright, but now the the whole line is of a single color of the "Misc" category.

Connecting the phone to my computer allows me to browse the sd card as normally... Please help me, I'm desperate :( I got so much important files on the card and the rom I'm using is dependent on the EXT3 partition I made on the card so it's not really matter of replacing the card either. If I do, I have to reinstall the entire system...

No, this is happening no matter where I am on the phone. For instance the MIUI music app shows no music whatsoever, but if I manually browse to a song in the file manager I can play the song, but it still doesn't appear in the player library. When I open the MIUI gallery app the only images I can see are the ones stored on the internal memory, the rest of the albums have just vanished. The stock android gallery app simply tells me that there are no items/images available... This is just examples... This also means that if a ringtone is saved on the SD card it can't be used, I noticed that my ringtone was changed from a song to a standard ringtone.

This is all extremely frustrating as I don't know what the hell has happened or how to fix it. I think it got something to do with the phone or ROM though as the card is still usable through browsing folders inside of a file manager or on the computer...
