Sg2 error #89

I have an sg2 flashed from boost to straight talk verizon. I had an issue with texting, so I transferred my # to another phone for 2 weeks, transferred # back to my flashed phone and now I get error code #89 and no mobile data. My wifi works though.

Yeah, Straight talk uses Verizon right? Do you have the donor phone that was used for it? I remember something about Verizon cracking down on that.

I used Straight Talk Verizon but they also offer Sprint. I don't have the donor phone. It was listed as an inactive phone on my Straight Talk account page so I was able to transfer my number back to it. The guy who flashed it isn't answering my emails so I think I'm screwed.

What was listed as an inactive phone? Did you have used to have another phone, and used that phones IMEI?

I had the sg2 flashed from Boost to Straight Talk in November. Had existing Straight Talk account. Phone flasher transferred my # from old phone to newly flashed sg2. Texting was wonky. Got tired of texts in Russian, just transferred # back to original phone 2 weeks ago. Got on this forum Saturday, I believe, wanted to try your suggestion of clearing texting app cache. Needed sg2 activated to do that. Called Straight Talk Sat., had them reactivate sg2 (which they think is a flip phone) MEI for donor flip phone is listed as an inactive phone on my Straight talk summary page. Was able to activate it that way, I don't have the donor phone, since the sg2 was reactivated Saturday, mobile data doesn't work. (I got spoiled using the sg2-the galaxy proclaim has android 2.3, a small screen and slow processor)

Okay that could be a programming issue. not having the donor can be a problem, if someone tries to use that phone. I would consider finding yourself another donor phone with a good serial. I'm not sure what kind of flip phone was used. Did your 3g ever work on your Gs2 with straight talk (without WiFi on)?

You may also want to Google your error #89. That is where I read about the issue of Verizon cracking down on it.

Most likely due to incorrect programming. You may want have your phone re-flashed to straight talk again.
