SG2 problem after the latest firmware update

Hi guys, forgive me if I'm on the wrong forum, but I just really wanted to find a solution to this problem. Some info first, I'm not sure if my phone is even the same as the one in this forum (ie, I'm not sure if its the correct one I should be posting in) but I assumed it was the international one since I bought my phone from Vodafone in Australia. Phone displays '19100T'

The problem: After updating to the latest firmware, my phone would die randomly (screen just blacks out) this will only happen when I'm actually using it (Youtube, Facebook, surfing) but extremely rarely when I'm listening to music. When I turn it on within the first few minutes after this happens, it shows the usual SAMSUNG 19100T screen, then just a SAMSUNG with black background + blue lighting on the writing and then it just turns off by itself again.

If I waited a while and turned it back on, the battery would be low (~15%) and sometimes it may crash again and if I restarted it, would go even lower, to a critical battery volume.

I have no apps downloaded from the Play Store, the phone is relatively speaking, as barebones as it can be.

I have tried: holding the home, volume up and lock key and formatted the entire phone twice, resynced my google account but two problems still persist:

1) The random blackout/crashing problem which leads to a massive drop in battery % after every successful restart

2)Battery drain is A LOT higher than the previous firmware, and this is even with power saving mode turned on.

3) Sometimes my wifi details would be reset and I would have to reenter it (this is a small issue, but it may have to do with the problem in some way?)

Hope someone can help me fix this, I'd really like to be able to sort this phone out and thanks

Hello and welcome to Android Forums jikijiki! :)

Sorry to learn you are having problems after your GT-i9100T update to JB.

Since you have Factory reset your phone and have no Play Store or other app's on your phone, it would seem to point to a corrupt firmware download and update. This can happen, particularly with OTA updates.

You could either take it to a Samsung Service Point and ask them to reflash the update for you or, alternatively, do it yourself by following the instructions in, "Firmware update problems... what you can do!".

Hi, thanks for the quick response. One thing I wanted to know is if I go to the settings of my phone and press on factory data reset, is it the same as formatting the phone using volume up, home button etc?
