Help SGH-i777 won't boot up - bootloop

Hello, I have Galaxy SII, SGH-I777 w/AT&T. When i turn on the phone i get black screen that says "Samsung Galaxy SII". I can't get passed this screen. The only other thing i could do is hold up/down volume & power button that takes me to a screen where i'm giving 2 options, continue or cancel. Click cancel, i'm back at black screen. Click continue it takes me to "ODIN MODE" and says downloading. No clue what it's downloading but it's stuck at this screen now. I'm not very techy w/phones, not sure if there's a simple solution. Phone is factory OS, i never installed anything outside of what AT&T pushed through software upgrades. Please help!

i have faced the same issue.
I tried to root my at&t galaxy s2 i777 but after rooting it did not start and show the "Samsung Galaxy S 2" image only and did not go further.
My mobile details are as given : -

Model no. SGH- I777
Android version 4.0.3
Baseband version
I777UCLC2
Kernel version
3.0.15-I777UCLC2-CL170259 se.infra@SEP-91 #3
Build No. - IML74K.117

The method i used is as follows: -
Use odin 3V1.85
pressed vol up and down key with the switch off button.
ODIN showed a yellow sign,
Clicked PDA and select"siyah-v3.4.2-nomswap-i777.tar" file
Processing showed done but my mobile did not start,

After that i used "I777UCLC2.exe" to give my phone life now it is working and the details are given above.

I want to root my phone and i think after it only, i can install jellybean on my mobile.

Please somebody help me.

remove your battery cover with the phone on, above the sd card is a master reset button, hold it down for 20 seconds, if it does not re-boot turn it off by removing the battery for 5 minutes and then put it back together and start it up.

if your phone is running ICS stock you dont need to root it.
All you need is to download the jellybean tar from sammobile and flash it using odin.
