Help sgs2 factory reset on unresponsive phone?

when i turn my phone on these force close boxes come up and i cannot access anything, so how do i do factory reset(hard reset) so any changes which may have caused that reverse? because i think normally the phone has to be on for the options to come up or something? is there a method for factory reset when you cant actually access anything in the phone?

With your phone off press volume up, power and home simultaneously until your phone boots into recovery mode. You can then reset your phone from there.
