Help SGS2 wifi hotspot speed too low?

i have a question in my sgs2 the speed is 12mps down and 2mps up, but when i connect my laptop at wifi hotspot the max speed is 1.5mps down and 1mps up, can i setup to up the speed on the hotspot?

I believe that is because WiMAX uses the WiFi radio. WiMAX is sorta a really long range WiFi.
