Help Shadow on front camera, just appeared. PLEASE HELP!

SPD4649

Lurker
I've had this phone for roughly 6 months with only minor issues, however this one just crowed up and it's driving me nuts. When I go to the camera, on the right side a shadow has appeared on the screen. The screen camera is unaffected, but the main camera now has this dot that shows up on most if not all pictures I take.

I've tried cleaning the lens and checking if there are any abnormalities on the lens itself but alas there's nothing to be found. I'm extremely careful with this phone and have no idea how this happened.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated, I use my camera to photograph things for work, and this issue makes my pictures look as if I'm blocking the camera...

I can provide pictures that illustrate what I'm talking about quite clearly.

Thanks!

Yes, please provide pictures. If it's a hot spot like a single dot, it's most likely a dead pixel in the sensor. If it's a round fuzzy dot, it's dust or some other foreign matter and may need to be disassembled to be fixed.

It's a fuzzy dot for sure. If disassembly is necessary, could you provide a link please?

Here are a couple pics, probably easier to see in the second.

First check to make sure the lens isn't scratched or stained on the outside. Clean it with a little denatured alcohol and double check the image.

If you do want to take it apart here's a good example of how to do it (this is for the i9100, but the process is the same):

Taking apart the Samsung i9100 Galaxy S II 2 and making it WHITE! - YouTube

Clean the inside of the lens (not the sensor) with some alcohol on a swab and blow off the sensor. If that doesn't fix it, you may need to send it in for warranty replacement.

I've got exactly the same problem- mine seems to like a halo of some sort- its going back tomorrow to get it sorted, bloody phone has been a nightmare just lately, first the battery kept overheating and the USB socket was replaced and recalibrated and now this... maybe I should have had a Iphone!!
Here's a few pics of the halo- this also happens with video as well...

@chipychip It appeared randomly, didn't it? I checked my photos and have a rough idea of when it happened, but have no clue why. Pretty frustrating.
