Help Shattered Back Repair cost?

Well, I shattered the back of my phone. I plugged it in and sat it on an end table. I guess the charger tugged it enough where it slipped from the table and to the floor. I knew it was cracked before I picked it up :(. So i called google, who then sent me to LG. LG gave me the details to send them the phone, but allegedly couldn't give me a repair estimate until they received the phone. Any idea roughly how much that may cost? I figure it couldn't be TOO much since it's just a battery cover. Hopefully it could be done for less than $40 or $50.

I'm curious how much they're charging too... I think you can take the 4S into an Apple store and replace the back for $29.

Did you have a bumper on it or was it nekked?

Well, there's always covering it up with a case to hide the cracked back...

^^That, or... I saw something about dropping some food coloring or something similar into the shattered back of an iPhone. Looked pretty cool.

It is only a small sheet of glass, you would hope that it wouldn't be too much. I don't know if it is a simple to replace as the iPhone 4 though?

(not saying it isn't, but the iPhone is particularly easy with the screws)

Yep, mine has gone, shattered around the camera flash with some long cracks reaching out to the edges from there.

The thing is, I have no idea how it happened, I certainly haven't dropped the phone. Not happy. I guess I'll be looking to get it fixed after the holiday.

If you get the replacement part then its just a case of taking the 2 torx screws out the bottom near the micro usb port and using a plastic pry tool to pop the back off, bit fiddly but can be done.

Is that for the repair or just the part? If they are replacing it as an assembly, then there is more to the back panel than just glass.

Got my Nexus back today. Good as new. However, I also received someone elses device along with mines. I figured I'd call LG and let them know. I heard a story a few weeks back about how someone had their phone lost for a few days in the warehouse before being found and returned, and, that coupled with this, leads me to believe that LG's repair department is just as much as a clusterfail as the launch had been. They had my phone since December 17th. No telling how long they had this other persons phone, which is now in my possession. LG emailed me a label to send the phone directly to the guy, instead of adding more time to it by sending it back to fort worth first. So, guy-whose-phone-I-have, if you are on this forum, your nexus will be on the way very soon!

I'd put a not in the box and ask him to join up here to relate his story. That's just plain nutz.

Such a sad tale about this phone from a logistics standpoint. Phone itself is pretty awesome, but Google/LG need to get their act together.

I agree. I'd hate for the phone to remembered solely for the negatives that many people have encountered. It's an awesome phone, with the best designed mobile OS (in my opinion) on the market, but there always seems to be something going on that could give the phone a negative stigma.

And it's reason like THIS that my phone is rocking a XO skin on the back (not the front, irony?) and sits in a leather case if it's not in my hands.

I took mine in to the O2 store today. The guy who served me believed that it had not been dropped (which it hadn't) and wrote an explanation on the notes for the repair. Just waiting to see what happens when it gets back to O2/LG. I'm expecting to have to argue against a quote....

Lucky I didn't sell the GNex.
